I just "rushed" into a mercenary errand... Just to try...
I read this forum after I started the errand.
So, "Army of knights {0}":
- 6 griffins
- 20 paladins
- 6 monks
- 50+ upgraded bowmen (sorry, but I forgot their naming here)
- 100 recruits.
Defeated in the third attempt (70 recruits left for the third attempt :D).
My point here is to give some more details what to expect if you try an errand. For the army, you get 3 cumulative attempts (meaning, you don't fight again what you killed in your previous attempts).

Oh! Sorry, I haven't seen the link by now.
I compared my fought and your example, and, personally, I consider it a little bit unfair. I killed the army, but, because as troops I am weaker than a lvl 6 or 7, I get xp only what I kill in the final attempt. I mean, the reward doesn't worth the price. So, maybe I will give up this kind of errand.

Just curiosity... Has any elf level 5 defeated any other army but of knights? (excepting the developers) Because, looking at the troops one has to fight with, it doesn't seem easy at all.

I saw that you needed also three attempts and you got less experience even if you fought better than me.
Did you try further? What army came to you after? |
I would suggest for the experience to be given something like (if victorious after the 3 attempts):
- 1st attempt: full experience for what you killed in the attempt;
- 2nd attempt: half experience from what you killed in the attempt;
- 3rd attempt: quarter experience from what you killed in the attempt.
In such way, higher levels and better strategy will get more experience. Wouldn't it be fair? |

Experience depends on number of kiled creatures..
So if you killed the army with one attempt, you receive a lot of experience
If you perfom several attempts, then in the last attempt you kill not so many creatures, so experience is less |

To kill an army in one attempt at level 5 has the least existent probability. If you take the shinako's case and mine, she had a better strategy, but she took less experience. I am not talking about the faction points. If you are defeated in the first two attempts, you don't get any experience from there but only the faction points. That's why I said it is not fair. |

Looking back through my combat log, as a level 5 elf I've completed upto DE army lvl 2, Barb army lvl 4, Knights army lvl 4, wiz army lvl 1. Most of them as I remember took 3/4 turns except for perhaps the lvl 0 ones...I'm not really sure. Thinking back, I could have done a level or more of each too had I used better strategy + lots of arts. |
That's good to know. I was just curious about how far an elf can go. I will try as well with no promise that I will reach your level. :)
Anyway, the challenge itself worth the effort.

Yes. The reputation falls by 1 if you fail a quest and by 0.5 if you decline a quest. Of course, they won't go below 0...But you should really not worry about the reputation too much IMO because having that only shortens the time between getting two quests. The max reputation is 10 and the time between two quests will then be 20 mins instead of 40. |
