AuthorI'm surprised no one has thought of this.
And if they have mentioned it I apologize for not finding the thread and kudos to them.

The devs increased the xp and sp you get dramatically throughout the game. Having to wear arts is their way of evening it out. Even though you are battling less, you are still making out on the deal pretty good. Keep it simple and use cheap arts with high durability... only replacing them when you have Hunter items; but don't go out of your way for Hunter.

Leather items are very good to increase your Smithing level as well; especially because you get far more repairs out of one item (at a cost of course).

Just have fun, and perhaps remember to work more.
I got to combat level 5 on my main and was pretty happy. Then I remembered I had to build in my castle to get my new tier of troops. I couldn't find any mercury. I had to buy it from the market. I did that and spent my money and got myself vampires. Yes, vampires! Awesome! Now to go try these things out...

Whoops. I forgot about this AP thing. No big deal right, just go buy a few cheap artifacts and I can get back to fighting people. Whoops, I'm poor because I spent my money on building.

Morale of the story is, stay at low levels as long as you can. Don't use artifacts if you're under level 5, save them.

I'm not stupid, I would have been smarter with my gold as a new player, but this change came into effect after I was already level four :(
thats why why you should only do hunts and jobs at lvl 1-4.

And maybe tavern games
you should only do hunts on levels 1-2 actually, since they are twice often at that time. And you should do jobs always. This way by the time you reach lvl 5 you get a nice, steady income of about 400 gold/hour - more than enough for min AP battles.
well, at level 3 4 and 5 you can just continu with hunts and merc quests
As long as it gives good advantages, keep going :P

Go for that faction skill 10, +1 luck to all troops ^^
*faction skill 9
Maybe my problem is I leveled up to five pretty quick. I find hunts kind of boring. I enjoy fighting people. 3v3 group battles give lots of experience.

I think it is a backwards system if winning is a bad thing. I did all the labour jobs I could. I am online a lot. I have played the tower card game, it is not a good way to make money. It is fun, but not a good way to make money.
It is fun, but not a good way to make money. rather, it's not for everyone.
On PvP - it's true that 3vs3 battles give loads of xp, but you have to balance it out with your earnings. Maybe try to do some merc quests, etc...

I've seen lvl 5 chars with LG 0 - and it's not normal...

Also, don't post with your multi. Use main acc instead.
After logging in, doing labour, then logging out for a while I was able to buy myself a bunch of artifacts and I can fight again. I still don't have the money or resources to build myself a mages guild. I probably won't for a while, my artifacts will break and I will have to replace them.

I decided to just start a new character, this guy. The plan was to stay at the lowest level possible and just do hunts. I couldn't do it, I find them too boring. I went and leveled up to combat 3 already. The only difference is this time I'm saving up all my gold for level 5. My first time through I bought artifacts and used them at low levels. You know like you would do in almost any other game? Equip yourself with some stuff so you can go fight. I guess in this world young heroes are expected to fight naked.

This is an interesting idea that just came to me:
What if there was a chance to win artifacts in pvp fights ? (player vs player)
or a small gold reward if you do very well in the fight?
Dont post with multi? But he is the guy I am playing? I come to post or read forums when I am waiting in between fights. I have to log out, log in the "main" and then post, log out and back in to this guy?
Why?
There are many ways to make gold in the game as it is... probably far too many. The only problem is the time and patience required for most of them, like selling elements and redistributing resources. It's easy to make 10k in a day by simply buying and selling resources... though it is very time consuming. If you're planning on playing this game for 5 hours in a day you should have no problem making gold. For those of you not playing that much, you are probably not battling enough to have a problem with money and arts.

Those of you low on gold when the switch came along should just dedicate one day to working and earning money. That should be enough to get you started.
It's hard to earn gold for your first set, but it's easier afterwards, since you get 65% of art cost back after selling them.

Gathering res and gold for next-level buildings is smart. Don't worry overmuch about res - prices will go down eventually, to normal level.

This is an interesting idea that just came to me:

Interesting idea. Think it through a bit, so it would be more developed (like what exactly one gets, how it's determined, chance, etc) and post in IaS :)

You have to have gold to buy resources and re sell them. That does nothing to help the level 5 guy.

I'll think up some numbers but that isn't really my thing, just ideas.
Do not level up too fast. U will loose much time that u should be able to maximize ur hunting and faction skill at level 1 - 4 .. try to earn gold as much as possible EVERY HOUR .. try to be online longer if u want more gold, maybe from ur Cell-Phone or PDA ... that is the way .. Man this is a digital world and we have to be online as often as possible. The rule here is like that .. then let us use our time as effective as possible ...

Best regards,

Randhy
Oh yes one more thing to add to my poor newbie story,
I changed my faction a couple times as a new player. This really screws you up, a lot of resources/gold are wasted on a couple buildings I will probably never use again. Maybe that was the reason I was broke when I reached level 5.

Don't you think that is backwards? What kind of game wants you to stay at low level? Shouldn't everyone want to be a high level?

I didn't like being low level. So few units to play with. It was not very fun and most level 1 players were really bad at strategy. I wanted to level up to have more fun fights. I don't want to stay level one doing hunts, it was not fun. Games should be some work and some fun, at the same time. Not work work work, have fun some day later.

I don't own a cellphone or a pda. I'm online more than the average player already.
Yeahh everyone has different minds of this game .. but I myself .. I just wanna enjoy this game and wanna be the best knight here . then TO BE THE BEST .. I think .. do not level up too fast .. but for Whom wanna just enjoy the battles, then I suggest to level up fast ...

Best regards,

Randhy
Randhy's right though. Because you only "compete" amongst those of your combat level, the most important thing to differentiate skill is aptly called, "Skill Points."

By far, more important that experience. If you get more xp than sp, when you hit your next level the people you will be fighting against could easily have higher faction and guild levels then you... giving them a fairly large edge considering this being a "low-scale" game.
I'm completely missing what you're saying...

what is your point there ipslne?
for MagicMarbles:
The point is, on lower levels people start hoarding skillpoints whil trying to keep away from xp. That gives them an edge against players of their level.

On higher levels people actually welcome xp because it takes a long time to level up.

Before the new rules, there was a point in level-camping. Now it's impossible - and it's a good thing. Like you said - What kind of game wants you to stay at low level? - not this game, not anymore. And extra xp doesn't matter, because everyone's getting it. The only people who are at advantage are those who started playing before rule change - but they are relatively few, and it's unavoidable. Better that rules are changed now, whaen we have 1k online, then like on .ru - 8k online, the game existed for over a year... There is quite a rift between old and new players there - here it's not so great.

I hope I make sence =)
