AuthorRecruiters unite, yeah like thats gonna happen..
I am a new recruiter and I was just wondering if any others out there would be willing to bless me with some nuggets of wisdom as to the pros, cons, yas and nahs and more importantly, you! The non recruited, what can I say to recruit you, what will make you be like,"yeah, thats tight, let me check this out"( and please within reasonableness(pretty sure reasonableness isn't a word but it gets the point across) and also the recruited, what would interest you in another clan? And finally the greatest aquisations of all, the non-clan believers. Why do you not want to be apart of fellow gamers? What would it take. Now even the ridiculous things I will hear, just so I have a range of what to expect, what people like and.... well I can't think of a word to express what I want to say as my third point and if I tried to use a bunch of little words the world at large may hunt me down for confusing them too much.
Well, I am sure that I am a non-clan believers. For some reason, I think that clan is not something very important. The benefit of all the clans is mostly the same. For example, it is repairing equipment, enchanting them, and most likely thief invitation. Nothing special. Furthermore, after joining a clan what is the main benefit? I don't think there is. It's not like there is a huge war going on =.=.
But I beg to differ...It's not like there is a huge war going on everyday we fight monsters, if we fight is there peace? Also, there is a story line currently being developed. Was any one person so strong as to do the dragon quests alone? I think not and if there was plz tell me so I can harass the crap out of them to teach me. Just the name of the game itself is as indication, WAR and MONEY, I also capped money becuase in every war money is soooo much an issue, you run out of money, you can't war anymore, just like here, you run out of money, you can't fight or hunt( as far as level 5 and above is concerned. I think that clan is not something very important. The benefit of all the clans is mostly the same. For example, it is repairing equipment, enchanting them, Ok, here I am quite boggeled, the benefits are things that not all people can do but others are. If you go to a job with benefits, do you complain that "I would have taken that other job that payed $10 an hour but I took this one instead, all they got is medical benefits and dental benefits, Heck they both pay $10, so whats the difference?" Heck no you'd take the $10job with benefits in a heart beat. Or at least I would. Also, without a clan if you ask gamers for money you can be referred to the administration for begging, where in a clan, well at least my clan which is goin back to a war started without money, hey America ring a bell, our money use to be more than euro. Not everyone can fix there own arts, in a clan you can get them repaired for cheaper by the clan then by just goin up to a random person and sayin, "Hey! I ain't got no insurance, how much!?" This is the same thing, its insurance, when you break your art, we fix it for a discounted rate.thief invitation. Nothing special.thief invitation. Nothing special.??? I am so not gonna touch that one as I am sure there are others who can tell you better. Trust me, its SPECIAL. You can save money, you can earn money, and you have people you can trust to not be AFK when you need some help. I am so hopin I don't sound like a jerk right now, I just don't get why people wouldn't want to be around others they can trust and get BENEFITS from.
I think one of the problems is that it is difficult to easily see the pros and cons of all the different clans. If there was a space where the clans could lay out their benefits in a specific format to make it easy to compare it would be great. Without having to wade through all the chat.

Cost of joining a clan, as well as any ongoing costs, is obviously also a big issue.

To me, the only real benefits i can see are cheaper smithing/enchanting & theif invites.

Good luck with ur recruiting!

Most clans usually put that info into their clan pages.

I used to be like #2 there, but with the new rules I have to agree with you now. For lvls 1-4, there's not much use for clans. But with lvls 5+ you need clans for help, REPAIRS, and enchants. I capped repairs because your arts are always breaking and any discount is better than none. For TGI, clans can help, but it's not necessary. You can get a TGI at good renting rates if you know the right people or do a little research in the forums.
One bonus to clans is if it is geared to a specific language or country. At least that way they can help and speak to one another.

The greatest problem is that nearly all of the clans are the same...just a bunch of people getting together to be the most popular group of people...who just happen to join like 10 other clans too.

If you're going to make a clan, make it original. Warrior clan started off with a good premise (fizzled). Dark Alliance was something different - at least on text. I also know of another Celtic based clan with a good ideal. Consider this and your clan won't get lost in the monotony of other clan practices.
Warrior clan started off with a good premise (fizzled)

Did not :P
WG started a non-AFK trend, and it's hardly our fault that no-tax clans became so popular after us :) And there are plenty of good things about being WG member, but listing them would be advert I guess :P

On topic - there is but one thing imo that can give clans true importance in game - Clan Wars.
lol that would be fun
they could have it on the drop down menu -Duals
-Group Battles
-Clan Battles

as long as there are no Clan Wars Clans are (at least imho) a Place where you can easy communicate and play together with your friends. There aren't big benefits at this game a Clan can promise you so no reason to enter one for that. According to that, Recruiting is pointless if those guys either have no interest in a real Clan but only want to benefit from the things you promise them or they don't want to join because they want to be in a Clan with their friends
so try to make some good friends, don't mess around with them and then invite them and your Clan will benefit of it much more than of some 10-years-old-children who just enter a Clan to get some fun or free stuff.
The other possibility is if your Clan is a group of guys who share the same interest, like being never afk, same language, they all are housewifes, thief-focused guild, fingernail-biter or gardener so they get along with each other because they all like to talk about that one topic or prefer that advantage/cooperation they don't get somewhere else.

So my suggestion is: Look what your Clan's Theme is, then start inviting people according to the method. Don't force them, just start a relaxed conversation (for example: "hey do you like XYZ?" - if he writes "yes" you may ask him first if he's interested in being in a Clan. Tell him about the big advantages and if he's still positive THEN invite him into your Clan. Of course this works only if your Clan's Theme is XYZ)
If someone doesn't feel like joining a/your Clan don't blame him/her for it.
Another important rule: Take your Time for each Member you are inviting. Sending a mass-mail to dozents of people might attract the wrong people who later mess up the Clan and destroy its community. YOU are responsible for everyone you invite so make shure he's worth it.
Gold fees for every new member you invited succesfully may be attractive but neither you will ever earn enough Gold with this method nor the invited ones are the right ones.
So take care in inviting them and you will be rewarded by good new Members, a good atmosphere and a growing Clan (because your new Member are really willingly at your Clan and interested in so they usually won't just run away after 2 Weeks)
Of course there are Black sheep everywhere and exceptions that prove the rule but i really think that strategy will work best
@6 and 11
thank you as those were very insightful, especially #11. My clan was geared at just asians but is open to all comers who are interested now.

So any others out there have some useful advice? Be them for or against clans, what do you value or dislike, what would you cherish in a clan or despise about it?
