How do we know were alive and not a brain in a jar imagining all this?
This was the question my sisters teacher asked her today. She is taking Theory of Knowledge class. When i heard this i said mom is paying the school for u to learn what?
So why don't u guys argue that were not a brain in a jar and i will argue that we are.
ok just because im bored. :) |
because we can see 0_o |
we could be imagining seeing 0_o |
because our brain would be dead if it sat in a jar ^_^ |
maybe brains don't die in a jar we just imagine they do |

Was that the red pill? :) |
Are these the IB classes? =) They have a compulsory courses of ToK there )
Well, there was a guys in the middle-ages who said: "I think, therefore I exist/live"
In fact, it's philosophy ) |
sorry, course* |
Reminds me of this:
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

The point is you can't distinguish whether life is real, a virtual simulation or somehow else imaginary, but it doesn't really matter, because you feel pain whether it's real or not and whether you are aware of it or not. |
i can prove were not a brain in a jar by simply saying
"Jars don`t exist." |
Well, it would be very hard for me to believe that we are just a brain in a jar without realizing that we are just a brain in a jar. The reason for this is input or lack of input. We don't communicate, get reception or have any sort of reference point with out input from our senses. Even claiming that we are being tricked into thinking we are real, doesn't hold water. If we are nothing but a brain in a jar, where did we learn about other people, how to communicate, how to interact with its surroundings. A Brain in a jar doesn't need any of these things. If you say that it was once human, then as placed in a jar, then it is aware in some form of its state, because it knows that it is not getting the input that it once was & would need to create that which it is missing. Therefore Fastrider is correct, we know that we are not simply brains in a jar because we can see that.
You're on your own about the whole Matrix thing. |
i can prove were not a brain in a jar by simply saying
"Jars don`t exist."
Well some people would say "saying so doesn't make it so".
Umm how do we know we're not brains in a jar dreaming this whole life?
We don't because it can neither be proven nor disproven . . . |
if we are all brains in a jar then someone must of left the cap open on the ones who don't give money for people who assist in hunts!! haha
Wait if we are all brains in a jar then does that make us exhibitionists? Oh my gosh I can see your.... |
brain in a jar? impossible! most of the people that play this game have no brain *looks around* |
hey me have brain *takes a big rock out |
It`s not hard to prove... Repeat after my
A pimp named slickba---... wrong prayer one sec...
"Jars do not exist its only a lie." (not immagination)
Okay now kill yourself if heaven or hell or any of that exists then you know you were not a head ina jar |
