AuthorMerc reputation and element chance
This may be implemented but since I have seen NO indication of it in the forums or the "about game" section, so here goes:

We all waste so much effort trying to get those merc guild reps, but they take so much time to build up, and the only bonus it gives is a time reduction for mission respawns. What it should do is increase your chance to get an element, the values will be linear.

I.E. 0.5 reputation= 20.5% chance to receive an element

10 reputation= 30% chance to receive an element

The main point is that Merc Rep, one of the hardest things to build up, should give us more than just a time reduction.

I fear it would decrease the amount of merc quests played by players. Because when my reputation drops down to 8 I would stop the merc quest until level up or some other power improvement.

That would encourage players to keep going to win more elements.
Well, the quests will get harder and harder, and therefore they will wait till they 100% sure can win the battle.

it would give players incentive to start on the first 1-5 rep levels, but may discourage the last 6-10 reps, since the first reps are disposable.

I still believe that its a worthwhile for someone who has worked to get those rep levels.
why are the first reps more disposable? it isn't really any harder to earn the last 5, once you have gotten the first 5, than getting the first 5 itself.

if such a thing is implemented, i personally would put off merc quests unless i am sure i can win it, even if i have to wait until i gain a combat level before doing it. merc guild rewards aren't good compared to that of the other guilds, so if overall i stand a better chance to earn more elements if i keep them for later levels, then i might as well do that.

... which discourages lower levelled players from attempting them.

the thing about merc rep is that it is not about who worked harder to get them; it is about who waited until they are strong enough before doing them.
i have no problem atall i have repo 10 from level 5 and still its 10 (went to 8 due to titans and elf brigands).
i find that wizards are the best at merc quests, so if it's easy for you so far i'm not surprised.

well anyway one can argue that this idea will induce a trade-off between getting a few elements earlier, or getting more elements later... so people who are 'desperate' for money will still try to do merc quests regardless of rep. and it makes sense too, since each element means more to a lvl 5, than to a lvl 8 for example.

still, i'm slightly against the idea =)
I like this idea. I don't care if I get another quest in 26 or 20 minutes, no difference. It is true that I expected something more from reputation, I expected better chance to get element, so this idea isn't new for me.

I don't agree with argument, that players would wait till level up. Difference in chance of getting element doesn't effect the chance to win the battle.

I think that the range 20-30% is wise and acceptable, so I totally agree with ReIncarnate.
is it now 20% drop?? hmm i done 383 so i should get 76 elements.... (now i have 61) sold few used few bought few...
Yes agree to #10 need more in reward to keep reputation up, now i don't see a reason to care about reputation actually...
but if there would be bigger chance to get elements then would be different story...

There is no reason. Notice that we are talking about raising chances to get element. Nothing would change to worse for you, just maybe to better in case you are skillful enough to keep a reputation high.

Not on reputation. Sounds really bad for the economy. Please give the previous sentence extremely serious thought if any would like to comment on that.

IMO, MG guild points as the basis for the additional % increase sounds fairer.

I think we have different viewpoints.

The way I see it, if I'm not getting a 30% chance every time to get an element, it means I'm not fully utilizing the system. Thus I will level up first so that I can be absolutely sure my rep stays at 10 all the time.

You probably see it as, as long as you continue to have at least 20% chance of element, it's fine. Any extra % is only a bonus that is not vital to have. No one gets harmed, and it only gets better on the whole.

I agree. Although ultimately, making a change like this will also be unfair for old vs new players, and for those who have done lots of merc quests and those who haven't.
LOL so finally something is in advantage for the new players against the old players?

Won't happen :P Not unless you propose something like: for rep 5 basic chance to get element is 20%, increases with higher rep and decreases with lower.

what will happen is that everyone declines all mercernary quests until he is level 8. Then you can 300 of them, keeping your reputation at 10

it's a way to force players to fight only boring battles, with no skill needed to win.
i really like to play challenging battles.
merc quests are my favorite battles, because of their difficulty.
every time i feel i might win a merc quest, i try it. (i decline less than 10% of my quests)
i needed several attempts to win some merc quests at low combat level, but these fight were very interesting, and when i finally defeated them, i was very happy.

with your proposition, impossible to play like it anymore...or i will be punished by having less elements than other players.
if i want elements, i will be forced to wait for level up, and play boring battles with combat level8 against ennemies i could have defeated at combat level6...it would remove all the fun of this game.
