AuthorAbout increasing Thieves Rewars and Economy
This was an idea i had these days, maybe it should be at I&S but its a dissertation better than a petition.

I thought that increasing the amount of gold robbed by thieves to players (the % probability of getting a player may be incremented as well ) would lead to a stimulation of the game economy. Nowadays, a player who gets catched by a thief has more to win than to lose, if he travels without arts he doesnt have to bother about durability waste, and even loosing he will have a better fsp/exp ratio than the thief (what, IMO, is the REAL MOST important thing to win in combat, but this is off-topic). The money looses goes to about 40-70 gold, just a ridicoulus amount.

If the looses would be more consistent, about 200-300 gold (maybe im gaining a way to hell thx to this :P), phew, thats a big deal!! Ppl would think twice before loosing a half or more than the gold they earn just for enroling. That would lead to some facts:

· Ppl travelling with full arts to avoid the loosing of gold. This way, people who normally dont care will buy arts to fight back the thieves with more chance to win. More arts buyed, factories gets his stock a bit removed... economy goes better.

· Ppl doesnt want to risk meeting a thief and uses the market for buying, instead of travelling to the production site. This will lead to an increase in production sites sell, bcuz merchants would have more work at market to refill his lots.

I know this has more implications that economy, but i want to focus more on that aspect bcuz seems like the RL crisis is affecting the in-game as well (and looks ironic that giving handicaps to criminals may estimulate the economy as well, just like in RL lol)

Too add something, 90% times you get the money back =) which isn't really the point of thieving.

I totally agree on what you said, but sadly, it's not likely it's going to happen. You know, the admins are thinking more about all the server problems and the connection problems players them self have. Not everyone live in Europe where there never will have a blackout or something... So losing 300 gold to a thief will just decrease the games popularity. Maybe not more gold but maybe they can make arts also boost skill points a little so boost the sp/exp for the winning side and nerf the sp/exp value for the losing side will probably encourage more people to really fight in thief events.

1st, after certain level you don't want to get less xp - you want more.
2nd - it's standart ratio for duel. If thief loses to 2 players he gets more then them, too - going to complain on that? :)

I don't like meeting people in full-arts in ambush.

about first point, i want to focus on the loose on the ambushed. I know the fact that money gained raised with TG level but this is not my point, i assume that ambushing is just costly and not a way to gain more gold, the ini boost is just good and enough :P.

about the fsp/exp ratio, well its just a mention and i know this is not the post to talk about that, but is a fact aswell. And the chance of getting 2 players is really poor (and hope it keeps as it is for a looong time, bcuz lose for the ambusher is always more painful than a lose for the ambushed).

I'm trying to be a good thief aswell, and i dont want too to meet full art players!! (i love to get an easy TG point with unarmed dudes ;P), but, again, i was suggesting a way to improve economy with making the game more... "realistic" (who dont cares about meeting a thief in RL??)

anyway, i mentioned the fact that it has a lot more implications, but if we would evaluate them all it will take ages :s. Just trying to make some debate :P

Maybe I should rephrtase it. Improve your TG and they'll lose 200-300 gold. Though it takes higher TG than in 1st case.
Has a game to be realistic?No,i don't think so...that's because it's a GAME..

And to be honest,if your idea would be implented i would quit the game..because there wouldn't be any point for me anymore to play..it's already annoying enough to be ambushed(i don't like playing against other players),but being ambushed and nearly lose the money i earn in a whole enrollment and more(i get more than 2 times a hour ambushed..)? That would be reason enough to quit the game,because i want to relax while playing games,not be annoyed by things i couldn't do anything against..

travelling with full arts and still lose, then you lose like 3k gold

If you increase the gold that ppl will lose, there are 2 options
People will stop playing the game, or people will stop travelling
and if they stop travelling, they DONT buy those overpriced resources from the market, they just ask a friend under level 6 (that cant be robbed) to buy them from the map, and then resell them to them for map price
And why would anyone need resources at level 8++ ??
thats only for mini arts or if you change faction or if you level up, but at level 8++ all you need is gold... no resources
I agree with you. A full set of arts costs quite a bit more than a few hundred gold. If the victim loses 500 gold and the thief gets 1.5k gold (high TG), then people would actually care about the lost/win in terms of gold. As of right now the amount of gold won/lost is too little to really matter.

But of course I realize if this change is made, then there would be a lot of complaints. I don't like to get ambushed either. I think TG is incomplete as it is right now. This change would work only if the counterpart of TG is implemented, so it would give victims a good chance of beating thieves.

There's already a lot of good ideas for this. Personally I like the Police Guild idea or the ability to hire mercs (either npc or players) to escort you.
Well, if the gold stolen had an increase, then i would ask the possibility to actually take some gold from the thief in case he looses.

We all know that some faction are stronger than others in an ambush (say, wiz, when ambushed, are generally disadvantaged), if you add that they would be obliged to loose quite a lot(either gold, directly, or arts duration), i think that it would be fair to leave them a chance to get leveled with the very evil thief..

After all, if they knock him off, why not take his purse? :)

Hmm.. that makes sense, but I wouldn't imagine a thief carrying much gold during an ambush. Instead I have something different in mind. Currently thieves can't ambush for an hour after losing, but how about putting them in jail whenever they lose to a player (or maybe make it only players with Police Guild or something). And once in jail they can't thief again (maybe can't do some other combats as well) until they pay bail gold to the game.

I think all will agree that 70 gold is a best prize for begging than thieving. I don´t figure anyone would be disencouraged of playing for a 200 gold loss. So on, I think raise the gold earned is only a bit of changes that should be done on server to make things more dinamic and joy.

The game has a nice engine for combating, making it intelligent like chess, the guilds are good but there is something missing. I think a good review and deep changes on the world we know (7 bricks) could make things more fun and bring out all the power that this battle engine can give.
