Author | Suggestion for chance of finding items |
I think that the game should have increasing chance of finding an item in hunt or MG quest if a player has not found something on one turn. hat is to say, If i complete a MG quest and do not find any item when I complete the quest, then my chance next turn should be something like 25% instead of 20 and so on. An alternative is that we can have a rule such as if a person has not found something for 9 consecutive turns, the 10th one is compulsory (like ghost hit and miss rule).
This will avoid cases like mine. I got 2 items from about 27 MG quests and about 5-6 hunter items from over 500 hunts. I do not know what is the probability in hunts, but in my case its about 1-2%.

about 5-6 hunter items from over 500 hunts
Combats fought: 379
Victories: 326
Defeats: 53
minus mercs and pvps
surely u havent done over 500 hunts |
anyway i got my first 1st element on #14 and 2nd on #42
+1 to the idea :) |
Yes, you are right. I have about 250 hunts. I had forgotten that you get 1 HG point for hunt and not 0.5. Even then, it makes my chance at 2-3% which I guess is still lesser than what the game intends. Eitherways, the point is not to crib about my chances but to make the game a bit more interesting and less based on luck. |
Silverhand, imo your idea goes against the ap system, and to a large extent cause unfairness to players who have high hg points (those with many hunt headcounts).
Why not just increase the base percentage for the chance of acquiring Hunter Arts by instead? |
Even increasing chance of hunter or MG items does not help the higher level players with any benefits for hunts and quests they have already completed. And that also leaves a lot of room for chance. It is not the base percentage which matters, but the actual conversion. A continuously increasing base percentage ensures that for a 20% chance, a person will have the likelihood of finding an element in MG at 80% if he has not gotten one for the last 20 quests. I guess that is not too much to ask for. |
Yea, it could be made much fairer if the formula was changed to something that is similar to that of luck/morale.
still lesser than what the game intends
How do you know what the game intends? Yes I'm aware that the probability is supposed to be (3% + HG level), but it doesn't mean that the game intends everyone to get between that range of hunter arts. Maybe the admins want it random. Maybe it is supposed to be such that there will be lucky people who gets it 10% of the time, and unlucky people who gets it 2% of the time. |
Instead of complaining, get to MG 4 - then you'll get your chance increase.
about 5-6 hunter items from over 500 hunts
Combats fought: 379
lol :D |
about 5-6 hunter items from over 500 hunts
Hunters' guild: 3 (259.38) +140.
yeah, that are like 300 hunts at most (if you assisted some)
And I bet that if i browse through your combat log i can find at least 10 battles where you did get an item
but in my case its about 1-2%
No, also in your case its (HG+3)% |
#6
I suppose your perspective is that hunter arts are an entitlement and that by doing so the game will be more interesting. However, it is in my opinion that a luck based system would be more interesting, due to the surprise one receives after a successful combat.
On a sidenote, if I was to frame your concept into roulette, everyone will be rich, since the chances of striking the correct number is around 3% as well :) |
Well, for both Shebali and Sven, if you read post no. 4 before replying, you would have known that I corrected myself on the 500 hunts thing. As I said its about 250. Secondly, Sven you are most welcome to check through my combat log. If you find 10 fights where I got a hunter item, I promise to give away the next 10 hunter items I get to you (or whatever penalty you choose for wrong reporting)
Eitherways, I can understand 2-3% if my chance is only supposed to be 6%. After all, my luck has been more than twice as rotten in both HG and MG till now. |
