AuthorCaravan Missions
I have thinking about become a thief, so I have watching a whole bunch of the Caravan quests. I noticed that even tha harder ones don't give you a lot of gold. Which I find kind of odd, even if I am splitting it with the guildmaster, My share should be around 200+ gold for the Level 1 missions or I wouldn't even consider it. You are robbing a Caravan, which should be loaded with goods or coming back from selling their goods. My cut should be at least 10%. The Thief missions, should be one of the places you can really earn a lot of gold. Considering all the factors that you have to go thru, just to get an invite will cost you 200000 gold (80 Diamonds) & in order to get that investment back, you have to sell the prizes you get for leveling up. Doesn't seem to be that fair to me.
in order to get that investment back, get to TG2. It's not hard... don't know what seems unfair to you.
if you think its not worth it, then just simply dont do it
Its as simple as that, you dont have to become a thief
Seems you have missed my point. Lets say you want to buy a car. In order to get the car, you need to buy a License. You take out a loan to pay 200,000 for the license, then you get a car once you past the test, but you have to give up the car. You pass the second test, you have to give up the second car. You have to do a ton of work, just to earn the car, but you still are just as broke as when you got the License. But you got the license just to get the car, so why did you plunk down all that money just to get rid of the stuff you got. If I am going to pay that much, I should be able to at least earn enough to equal the money I paid for it.

With your view, we shouldn't do any battles at all since all battles result in too much work and loss of gold.

It is true that being a thief costs us the most gold and work out of all the battles. But we don't do battles to get gold.

Let's take your example. You learn how to drive, pay all the fees, and buy a car. Do you get any money out of all this work? No. You spent all that money and work because you wanted to drive a car. If you want money, you go to work. So go enroll in those facilities.
As you increase in Thief Level, you share increase as all

Still chump change. I spend 10 times that amount in arts.

The gold is a good amount if we can earn it without using any arts or have any other costs. But not when we need to spend so much more. I, for one, get quite a bit of gold from buying and selling resources to facilities, but thieving looks more like charity than actual thieving.

Thieving is more about enjoying a different style of combat and getting great xp/sp.

Not that i think we should change thieving, but if Kyrian's idea get implemented so we get more (maybe a lot more) gold, I think there should be more of a consequence from losing than not thieving for 1 hour. Maybe we need to pay bail money or loss of stats (-1 luck) ?
TG isn't for making gold - it's probably the most costly guild in the game. Yes, meager gold you get from winning ambushes and thief arts barely cover your loses, but TG isn't for earning gold. It's for permanent ini bonus - and that is worth quite a lot.

Do you have a car? If so then you should know how much it`s cost to run it (petrol, insurance, services, repair stuff and so on), are you getting a penny from driving it? (i`m not talking about taxi drivers) I don't think so. You buy and drive car cos you like it and you want to get from place A to B as fast as possible. In theft guild as well you get faster units, so consider it as a car running costs.
To Mr_eee

Yes I do own a car. & I do agree that a car cost a lot to own, but on the other hand, the car allows me to earn 3 times what I could earn with out one. The public transportation in my area is not that good. If I had to rely on it to get back & forth from work, I would be much poorer. So by your admission, I should be expecting more from the TG.

To Shebali

I don't mind that its the most costly that isn't what bothers me, but it should also provide the most gold as well. The TG provides the most challenge, the best set, but the reward falls short of the work involved.

You are too short-sighted. Think of the advantages of TG:

1. Xp/sp gained from each combat.
2. Init increase for each TG level.
3. TG arts.
4. Some gold.

These advantages enable you to do better in not just TG, but in all your other combats. As you had said all the car expenses are offset by enabling you to work and not use your poor public transportation. TG would enable you to use less arts and do better in combats.

And now of course some people would find public transportation to be much better than driving a car given the high costs, but that's really for each individual to decide.
