Author | New Arenas |
Currently all of the arenas are the same boring square shape with a few random rocks thrown in, but what I think will add a whole new aspect to the game is if the arenas were given a few more defining features that add penalties to certain units. Here are a few of my suggestions:
River- An area that has a river going through the centre of it, and all ground units go half speed through it, flying units not affected.
Sloped ground- An area set upon a hill and going down the hill allows units to move 1/3 faster and going up the hill slows units by 1/3, the same happens with an archer's range, giving the army with high ground the advantage.
Muddy terrain- All ground units move a 1/3 slower, and large ground creatures move 1/2 slower.
Graveyard- All living units suffer -1 morale.
Lava plains- Streams of lava flow through the field, and any unit that crosses a stream suffers -10 hitpoints for every square of lava they crossed.
Fair weather- All living units gain +1 morale.
Windy weather- All flying units go at 2/3 speed
Lightning storm- Every turn a square is randomly hit by lightning, dealing 50 lightning damage to any stack on it.
Rainy weather- All units lose -1 initiative
These are only some suggestions of possible arena that could be used, and I was thinking that during hunts it was completely random which arena would be used, and maybe some of the challenging and dangerous areas (like lava plain or lightning storm) would only be available for players with high hunting level. I realise that these arenas would be a pain for many players, but I think that it will make hunts more realistic and there is an equal chance that you could benefit from these conditions as you could be hindered by them.
I was not thinking that they would be used in planned player battles all the time, although there might be an option for high level players when creating a challenge to fight in the "Wilds" where one of the areas is randomly used.
I would appreciate any comments or critizms on this idea. |
That's good idea... that will be good battle supplement. But i don't think admins will do it :( |
nice one and they can make that pier and lighthouse work to have a batle on a boat |
Ya it is a good idea but as koki said I don't think admins will do it.
Anyway good job I love it. |
Some of these are biased- such as the graveyard for necromancers, fair weather against them, and the sloped ground- how would you determine where to put the slope? |
To NatureLord and koki: If its a good idea then why wouldn't the admins do it? If they don't take in good suggestions, then whats the point of even having this forum?
And to Bramblethorn: You're right, some of the conditions are biased, but remember than it is completely random so although in some conditions some factions will be disadvantaged, in others factions will have the advantage so hopefully it will all work out even. And about the sloped ground, which ever side the sloped ground is on is just chance. |
maybe the slope can be in the middle. Like that, the battle could become a "king of the hill" contest with both sides figthing for control of the higher ground. |
Good idea, like I said I only made examples of some of the possiblities: there are loads of ways that the admins could change it to make the game more interesting. |
++idea
Thorns: Invisible for both sides, random squares, when creature moves/ lands(flyer) there, loses 10 hitpoints and is stunned for 0.5 turns.
Cursed valley: -1 luck
Blessed ground: +1 luck
+ more in your fantasy. I think such special squares/ locations were part of the original heroes series. |
this is a lot of coding and also design. I dont think admin have enough ressources to implent it. Too bad |
i agree that it is more interesting than these maps with few rocks, but it adds even more to luck factor. this way, the game that is 80-90% about luck would turn into game that is 99% about luck. well i overreacted there with those percents, but still, that doesn't make it any less true. |
personally, i like the idea. would make fights more interesting. |
i love this idea!!
and i hope admin. will do this for us.. :D |
+11111 |
It will be interesting:)
By the way, it will be very hurt to my brain, because I need to think how to move my troops for a long time:) |
Great Idea, taken from board games and miniature games, isn't it? ;-)
I'm sure on .ru they'll have something like that sooner or later! XD |
nice one ;) |
good ide i lvoe it. would make the game more exiting! |
Hopefully if the idea gets enough support the admins will take notice of it. So far all the responses have been positive. |
like it +1 |
