faction change

im lvl 2 and was undead faction, i gained a level in necro so why didnt i get +1 knowledge for faction bonus? do i need to get lvl 2 to get first bonus? now i've switched to dark elf to earn lvl in them for bonus, do i need to get level 2 for them?
