Author | No ambush in thieving |
Hi, I read that sometimes, when a thief sets an ambush, there's a chance he/she can go the 15 minutes without ambushing anything and the ambush is canceled by the system.
Now since the system randomly selects a PVE (if there are no players walking by the route the thief choose, or when it's not a human player's turn to get ambushed by the thief), why would the ambush time-out and get canceled? Why wouldn't the system select a PVE for the thief in some cases?
Thanks. |
there is a belief, or fact? that caravan are triggered by moving players |
from what i know, ambush is triggered when someone walking between the route you choose. from there it could be you vs AI or the player(s). so when the ambush canceled that means no one walking between your route.
i don't know if this someone must be the same level with you to trigger the ambush or not. |
I believe that there are also a slotting system, cos there are some routes like Yellow lake - Great capital that are very popular with thieves, so they have to take their turn to ambush the people. if your turn doesnt come up in that 15 mins then too bad the ambush cancels.
I too believe that the ambush is triggered by moving players and there is some range in the level so eg + or - 1 level gives you a caravan of the type of that character |
And can some kind mods move this to "Queries and help", please. I must have accidentally posted in the wrong part of the forums. Sorry. :p
But kindly don't close the thread yet, coz I think there are some other players, besides me, who's not sure why we don't get an ambush after waiting 15 minutes. :)
IMHO, the system should in 1 way or another, set up an ambush for thieves who waits, coz if an ambush gets canceled, 88% of the time, the thief would just set it up again immediately, considering that thieving coz tons of gold and (almost) everyone wants to do as many as possible in the shortest time possible. It would make no sense to not at least give the poor thief a caravan to rob after all the waiting. :p
Thanks. |
88% of the time 99% |
Thieves can only ambush when players are traveling even when it's a caravan. Caravans would not appear if no one is traveling.
I think the ambushing time should be extended to beyond 15min or there should be an option to beep us when it cancels. I, for one, have my ambushes canceled on me often. A few times it has canceled on me up to 4-5 times before I get an ambush. |
Any possibility that in the event that you wait 15 mins and no one walks by, that the system still throws you a random caravan.
This would at least make thieving more viable and waiting more worthwhile |

Any player, of any level? |

No one knows for sure. There have been a lot of guessing.
I like this one:
Players +/- 1 of your level. This is why top level players can still do thieving. |

Hmm.. the more I think about it, the more I would really like to know how the thieving ambush system works. I would think this is not meant to be kept a secret, since this can help a player decide whether to 'waste' time setting up an ambush or not.
If it can only be triggered by a player of same or +/- 1 level walking by, I can't imagine the first player who reach level 14 here, or even the very few players that are level 13 now ---> they could be waiting like forever before another player of equal or similar level log on or walk the route he/she set the ambush (!) :/ |

With that assumption, level 13 players can get caravans when lvl 12 players walk by. And as you guessed, sometimes it does take a long time to get an ambush. A few times I had my ambush cancel on me 4-5times in a row before I got an ambush. |
lvl 11+ are active players and usually they often travel for quests. So in day its not problem to wait antil they trigger your ambush. |
Hi all,
So no one has a definitive answer as to how ambushes are triggered?
Thanks. :) |
Ambush trigger when somebody of your lvl and +-1 lvl is travelling on the road where you made ambush. After it program chose who'll do you fight - player or caravan. Chance to catch player is very low (i think 5-15%). Tipe of caravans is not depends on faction of the traveller. |
