AuthorA whole new way to play...hunting TG members.
Hi all,
I have tested and perfected a new art...hunting thieves. I will share what I learned with those who are interested in spicing up your game.
Players under 6th level can't participate so you will have to wait until you reach that level.
I got robbed a couple times and didn't quite like it so I decided to strike back.
Advanatges:
1. Satisfaction beating them at their own game.
2. You can find a thief ambush at 44% of your health(you enter the battle at 100% though)
3.Your health rises as you fight so almost every time you finish a battle you are at 100% health.
4. Lose and you have free travel for three hours as you can't be ambushed again during that time.
5. Win and gain 4-5k exp and at least one full point. Even a loss brings you near 1k exp and over the .50 hunt points you get.You lose a little gold though.
6. Fills the time in that you would be waiting for your health to rise so you can fight again(44% health is all you need to find an ambush)
7. Works on your fighting skills for the next survival tournament and allows great experimentation time.
8. Gives you a chance to tease the snakes who would steal your loot and lose.

I have 25 heads of TG members on my wall so I am quite successful at my craft. I have lost some battles but won far more.I also like to talk trash to the thieves just as a mind game.

To begin your hunt, simply travel back and forth between the Great Capital and Yellow Lake as most thieves set ambushes there because of the high traffic of the Merc Guild members. At peak hours(over 1k players online) it won't take long until you find a battle.
Each thief you battle has different tactics so the first time you meet, they have the advantage usually.
1. Win or lose, place them on your friends list so you can begin to monitor them.
2. Go to their combat history and look at their tactics. Most players do not change the way they set up their troops.
Knowing your enemy can mean so much in these quick battles.
They can see your name but you can't see theirs so do not continue the same troop set up if you beat them more than once and you see them online. A good thief will remember how you set up and alter their troops to beat you.
3. Some players are too strong(high arts, high initiative..)
so avoid them. How? Remember you have them on your friends list so you can wait until they are in a battle before moving on the road. A thief needs to have 100% health to ambush so you can also travel around the times they are weak.
Check the combat log and see if they lost an ambush in the last hour. They can't ambush again until that hour has passed(if they lost) so you are free to move.
4. Large creatures can only be set up in the corners of the battle field for thieves so remember that as you set up your own troops.
5. Change your talents for quick hand to hand combat. Choosing magic resistance is a waste because most thieves aren't wizards and ambushes are won with your troops almost all the time.
6. Don't feel like fighting but need to travel? Rework your troops so that you have 1 single troop. The thief gets almost no exp and wastes costly arts. Then you have 3 hours of free travel as you can't be ambushed again during that grace period.
7. Many times I end up in an ambush along with another player who was travelling at the same time. The more traffic on the roads, the better the chances of a 2 v 1. I want to open up the road a bit for Merc Guild members. If we can get a number of thief hunters who are good, it may discourage some thieves from setting ambushes on our road.

This is just another aspect to the game. I am not 100% positive but I think I am the first to actively hunt thieves.
Anyone wanting to create a clan based on this idea is free to do so. Maybe call it Bounty Hunters? I have some ideas how to make money from it also. I don't want to be a clan leader, having done that in other games. Just want to be a free spirit and I do love my new clan, Warriors Guild. They are so
nice guide, but i wouldnt appreciate it :p
Continued:

They are so anti-cheater I am proud to be a part of them.
If anyone does want to create a clan based on this idea, I will gladly help with ideas.
The TG has multiple clans and lots of help. Why not a clan to help the Merc Guild?
I would like to hear from anyone who gives this tactic a try.Post some cool wins here, new ideas and such.
To my enemies...I know ya hate me :P I thrive off of it!
Cheers,
Modi
rats.. you are about to level up too >_>
oh oh.. lv 9, he is coming to get you kiz!
Thieving is hard.In fact the thief is the victim in an ambush because he loses a huge amount of money in arts while the actual victim loses a really small amount. Not to mention that the thief has to wait 1 hour if he loses and that the victim gets out of the ambush with 100% troops and without losing his skeleton reserve.

The reason why thieving clans exist is because thieving is hard.If you want to lose your gold hunting ghosts your welcome to.

Why would you suggest to hunt thieves since you are one too?...
I got my TG ONLY to equal the playing field and work on moving the initiative of my troops up. I never ambush on the main road and if I do steal from a player who isn't a thief and doesn't cheat(illegal transfers) I return the money.
Thieving is hard? Maybe so but why does it cost so much for a TG invite if it wasn't profitable? The profit comes with your increased initiative. That's a killer for those who do not have a TG invite.
Remember, nobody told you to join the TG. It is hard to earn money in this game and it isn't fun having it stolen either. Cry me a river pal :P
No sympathy here.

Why would you suggest to hunt thieves since you are one too?...

be the best thief, and eliminate the other thieves around the way
:P
be the best thief, and eliminate the other thieves around the way

This Modi character is the ultimate thief! He beats up other thieves so he can be the best thief. Insidious! XD
That is tru aRU. Thieves may also decide to "eat their own" by hunting them and gain exp while they wait for their troops to heal or the hour to pass if they lost an ambush :P
For some reason, I find this situation very funny and entertaining..

Modi, do you think players who are thieves, do it because they want to loot gold from other players? The amount they get is paltry and equals to pocket change. What if they wanted to "equal the playing field and work on moving the initiative of their troops up"

Also you are not the first thief hunter..There are many others like you..
Maybe so Zeno. You aren't a thief so why do you seem a bit agitated by this thread? If there are others like me, I would like for them to post here. You aren't Zeno are you? Is it amusing to open up a new idea to "some" who have not thought of it? Yes, I'm sure there are scads of thief hunters all over the place(sarc). Bring out the records then. Here are mine:

ridiculous

when a player be a thief,he/she want to win the caravan
and when he/she is a thief hunter,he/she want to beat the thief

how can this come true when both sides are players?

(maybe thief hunters want to be the "DE super hero" with more than 100 hydras and 2x spell point)
I honestly have no problems with thieves or thief hunters..
I just find it funny that u r a thief and are hunting other thieves..thats's all

Happy thieving/thief-hunting to you
Yeah, it's silly. And how can you be sure that all thieves are really thieves? Maybe they're all just trying to get "equal footing on the slime." XD

If you get to level 9, come play with me. I do thief ambushes with minimum arts and if you feel like breaking your arts on me, I'll be more than happy to oblige. XD
That wouls be funny^^
would*

Thief hunters are not breaking their arts for nothing though :)
Even defeating thief which is wearing mimimum arts gives you nice exp/skill points
Besides, you do not have to wear full art set to defeat thief.

Example: thief(full arts) vs me(minimum arts)

Ah, I see we have some people calling the idea silly. Argue with these stats:
In 10 days from hunting thieves, I gained 114,658 exp and 40.38 skill points. That is just for the wins. The losses stil provide more exp and skill points than hunts.
All done in between hunts, merc quests and my own thieving. It's all extra points. Also, it doesn't cost a darned thing to rent or buy a THI(Thief Hunting Invite.) LOL
Silly, isn't it? If this is silly, I like it ;P
Maybe so but why does it cost so much for a TG invite if it wasn't profitable?

I just started thieving myself and I think I can safely say for most thieves, their intention is NEVER to get rich rich doing it, or to thief against other players. It's just part of the game. And I would say most thief does thieving exactly the same reason you are doing it, and not like you implied, for other reasons. :)

Remember, nobody told you to join the TG. It is hard to earn money in this game and it isn't fun having it stolen either.

While I respect your opinion and your post to "help" other players against thieves (like you and me), I find it strange that you would make a statement like that. Pot calling the kettle black? :pp

I got my TG ONLY to equal the playing field and work on moving the initiative of my troops up.

And whatever gave you the impression that the majority of players are not doing it for exactly the same reason? :)

I return the money.

I have the gold returned to me a few times when I got ambushed, and now that I'm a thief myself, make it a point to write to my 'victims' to offer my apology for the ambush, tell them that I didn't choose them and offering them the gold back if they need it. (Surprising) most didn't want their gold back, except a few who are/were really broke.

I got robbed a couple times and didn't quite like it so I decided to strike back.

Gives you a chance to tease the snakes who would steal your loot and lose.

You missed out a crucial point here. All of us will get robbed some time or another, but the important thing to note is, like yourslef, none of us likes it.

The thief DID NOT choose the victim, the system did. So to start calling other players who thieves "snakes" is a tad offensive and derogatory if you ask me. Remember, you are a thief too, and like them, you don't choose who you thief.... :)

This post is not meant to be personal and offensive, just sharing our (different) opinion. :p

Have a great Lordswm day, all. :)
