Author | Pin Codes to secure accounts better. |
This option would help protect your password/e-mail being changed.
How it would work.
At the start of where you change your password in the "password and e-mail" in "Personal Settings" You would have a button called "Set pin."
This is where either we have the option to put in our own special pin code or "The Lordswm Team" would send the pin to your E-mail address.
Write the pin down.
From now on all you see on the "Password and E-Mail" Page is "Enter pin __________" When you enter the pin (E.g., abc.E4f1.123)
Once you enter the pin if you enter it correctly you will be able to change your password or e-mail address.
This will help by less accounts being stolen. The pin would kinda be like a Second password to protect your account.
(If I'm missing something let me know.) |
that's pretty good. but if somebody hacked to your acount they still would be able to transfer all your gold and items. but i give a +1 |

To fix that the admins could set it up to where IF you have a pin then before you can make ANY transfers you would have to put in your pin code every time you log in (not every time before a transfer, that would get annoying)
What that would do is:
1. Protect your gold and items.
2. If someone logged into your account and tried to transfer they couldnt. |
i like the idea but then phishing websites would just say
Username:
Password:
Pin #:
and we are right back where we started >.> |
pin then before you can make ANY transfers you would have to put in your pin code every time you log in
That would really make my life easier, put in 2 passwords instead of one, and a password approval of every transaction, especially for market. That would make me really miserable.
How does it work when you want to change e-mail? I believed you need some kind of approval from your old email to set a new one, am I wrong? |

Thats why you stay away from phishing sites :P (or sites you dont trust)
#7: I said you would only have to enter it 1 time per log in before you could transfer anything -_-

All you would have to really do is enter the pin and them changed your e-mail like you change it now, but yes that would work too. |
Actually, all this security ensures that you will still be able to have your account, not that it protects you from theft. Moreover, by writing to the administration, the admins should be able to identify the thief and suit him/her legally, or, easier, to cut the access from that range of IP's to this game, so, many other players to play safer.
Nevertheless, it's a good idea. The admins can also implement different levels of security, letting the player to choose between different levels (from "I don't care" to "paranoia" :D). |

This is nothing more than a 2nd password.
If they can get to your 1st password, then a 2nd password won't help unless of course your 1st password was easily guessed such as "password".
What would help is IP range restriction. Now if you have a static IP or a range of IP that you use, then you can put that into your account settings. And if some phisher or hacker from some random country try to login, they can't because their IP doesn't match your settings. |

So no hackers any more:) |
but if somebody hacked to your acount they still would be able to transfer all your gold and items.
Also Admins must have the opition to return all gold and resource transfered by mistake or got hacked:( |
I got an idea. Why not use pins like in Runescape (not SHL@!@!!!!), don't type in the pin, enter it by clicking....?
Have this window pop up when you enter after typing user and pass. That way they cant go through without putting in the pin. |
phishers...
i suppose if ppl are dumb enough to fall for the name and pass, they are susceptible to the pin# too. sadly. very sadly.
but this could still benefit in other ways as well. lil pesky brothers looking over young players shoulders for instance, and incidental phishing wares. |
sounds goood, but in fact it is just one more level of the same protection as password.

that's why a pin isn't needed on the first place :) |
A pin would be good, but it would be troublesome to type abc.E4f1.123 everytime.
If its shorter like 2343 LIKE the normal pin.
I would give it a +1 if the pin is shorter :D |
