I don't like the ideea that luck make you do double damage.
Luck must trigger when someone hit you not when you hit, so luck must reduce damage by half. |
Boooooo
so luck must reduce damage by halfthats bad luck LOL |
thats bad luck LOL reduce enemy damage by half is nice. |
Interesting concept. Defensive luck, kind of. But you can be lucky when hitting as well (imagine some kind of critical hit). |
Topic moved from "General game forum" to "Ideas and suggestions". |
cipa there is bad luck its calld the afk penalty |
why do you pple calle ir bad luck. It's good luck for the defenders, bad luck for the attackers. Must it always work one way, and not the other?
Interesting idea for a talent. +1 |
Yes 1+ nice & interesting Idea |
Hahahaha

If u wanna see this bad luck, just AFK!!! u'll get -2 Luck |
for darmogathel:
for drakelord:
he means luck triggers if you get attacked, and you would take half damage then. This is absolutely NOT the same as bad luck...
i like the idea +1 |
for drakelord:He is saying when someone attacks you, on;y half damage gets dealt to your troops. So is ghosts attack FK, and do 100 damage, if luck triggered only 50 damage would be dealt to your stack. I like the idea, it could be an addition to luck. |
it happens the other way, when your opponent has bad luck :D |
...But it would get complicated.
First, luck happening both on attack and defense, so on twice many occasion, should trigger twice less often to keep a sense of balance (we don't want a luck more powerful than it's already is, right?)
Also, your "defensive luck" may conflict with another guy's "offensive luck". Damage both doubled and halved...
It would add much chaos to the battlefield, but might be interesting. |
--- (much minus)
This is Ugly Idea
Imagine: U get this 'Silly Luck' and the enemy hit U get 'Luck' What happen then?? Then it will be useless. |
The animated icon could be a broken sword while it is in swinging action( sword swings from a close to vertical position to a horizontal position, clockwise direction. Perspective should be in accordance to the map)

Imo, you give a flawed argument. So are you meaning to say since there is the offence talent and defence talent, one of them is suppose to be useless?? Don't forget that the idea of defensive luck can apply in cases of normal hits as well. |
lordswm uses offensive luck, like in HoMM3.
his suggestion is to use defensive luck, like in HoMM4.
i think we must keep the actual luck system.
if we switch to defensive luck system, it will unbalance factions.
for exemple defensive luck would be useless for elves/DE with their sprites/shrews.
but it would be very strong for wizards gargoyles.
but it is not a bad idea to make it as a new talent, or as a special ability for some artifacts. |
This means each point of luck has double effect, makes it too much of an advantage for factions that can get high luck. |

Why shouldn't defensive luck trigger when hit by Shrews?? Defensive luck has nothing to do with retaliation (which involve attack luck by the way). A very lucky unit could receive half damage from an attack (def luck) then retaliate with double damage (att luck).

...That's why I wrote above "each point of luck should give only 5% of luck trigger chance" under this system. Half trigger chance, but on twice as many occasions. |
I think this is great!

that's not what i'm talking about.
i said that the defensive luck is useless for some units (like shrews) and powerfull for some others (like gargoyles)
in hunts my shrews are trying to deal as much damages as they can to neutral creatures, trying to kill them all with hit and run before their speed grows too much. offensive luck is very important for me, and defensive luck is absolutely useless.
if i had to choose between +1% offensive luck or +20%defensive luck, i would take the +1%.
wizard's gargoyles dont deals too much damages. they tries to run and to give enough time to the hero for his spells.
defensive luck would be very usefull for them, a lot more than offensive luck.
that's why i'm against the new luck system: strenghtens some factions (wizards, maybe knights) and weakens some others (elfe and DE at least)
but new luck system is not a bad idea for some talents, or some special artifacts abilities. |
