i just fought against a caravan of DE with 11 spell power:

i don't understand the ammount of damages dealt by their spells:
108 for lightning, 56 for eathern spikes.
take a look at the help section:

eathern spikes with 11 spell power deals:
52 damages without chaos magic
56 damages with basic chaos magic
60 damages with advanced chaos magic
64 damages with expert chaos magic
i suppose that caravan of DE uses basic chaos magic because the eathern spike spell did 56 damages.
but the problem is with lightning.
lightning with 11 spell power should deals:
132 damages without chaos magic
144 damages with basic chaos magic
156 damages with advanced chaos magic
168 damages with expert chaos magic
and the lightning spell deals 108 damages only.
(i have no magic resistance from talents or artifacts)
there is a problem somewhere, i should take 144 damages from lightnings, not 108. | also it only used 4 mana for Earthen spike
but the Lightning damage could be 132, 18% resisted by what your faction level provides, so it became 108, but then that wouldn't make sense for Earthen spike damage | | Maybe it sounds stupid, but the only explanation I could find (eliminating the possibility of being a math bug because the same math routines are running for the both cases) is that the magic strength reduction due to the faction level is regarded as magic resistance and the Dark Elf has the Magic Piercing capability. So, in the case of Earthen Spikes, the probability distribution reached its threshold and ignored the magic strength reduction due to the faction level. I don't know if that should be like that, but I cannot find any other explanation. | | U're a DE lvl 6, which mean 18% resist of everything, damage deal to you by spell or melee or range. If it's 108 damage, then caravan doesn't have any chaos magic talent as straw calculate. so nothing wrong with that :) | but if caravan had no chos magic talent, and if i had 18% resistance, their eathern spikes should deal:
52*0.82=43 damages.
or 52*0.82*1.5= 64 damages with elementall call.
the eathern spike dealt 56 damages: too much for a normal spell, not enough for an empowered spell.
56 damages from eathern spikes AND 108 damages from lightning is a nonsense. |
