The antagonistic hero continues to regain his powers though suffering through many gambits gone wrong but all the while relearning.
The voice is becoming clearer in games now. Its becoming easier to listen to the voice that guides him to anticipate his opponents moves. It allows him to time his attacks for the most advantageous times and a keen mind to keep one step ahead of the opponents counters. Awareness is being heightened while knowledge of the cards sharpened.
His blade is sharper now and hope glimmers brighter in his eyes which unfortunately also makes him talk lots more smack.
He looks up into the starry night sky tightly clenching on to his cards. A long breeze sweeps by him but his gaze remain fixed to the heavens above.
A bar-maid cleaning up one of the outside wooden tables asks him if he is o.k.. He turns to her with a flirtatious smirk and with a gust of wind disappears as the winds silences into the black of night. |
Hours later...
Lucid is still giggling to him self on how cool he must have looked disappearing like that. He assures himself that next time the bar-maid won't tell him no on a date.
As he wanders down a road he hears the cries of a young boy off in the distance. Telling himself its none of his business he quickly walks away in the opposite direction. The screams get louder and louder as he walks faster and faster away until finally he goes into a full sprint. It seems however, that the faster he runs away the louder the noise gets. So finally he turns around severely annoyed "OK!!! What da hell do ya want already!!"
Just then he looks past the child and there is a giant sand storm within seconds of hitting the both of them! Good thing he had been saving up his ore points he thinks and he casts mine card after mine card in a moments notice to erect a 64 wall.
He sees the child also summon a wall but only a 14. Lucid points at the child and ridicules him for such a pathetic wall.
And now the sand storm has landed upon them... |
Lucid begins to yell at the impact of the storm on his wall. He quickly stops screaming once he realizes he is the one making all of the noise. How peculiar. There doesn't seem to be any sand storm he can hear of. Cautiously he peeps out of his wall to see clear skies and calm sand. His bewilderment is interrupted by the sound of a child laughing hysterically.
"I can't believe you fell for it!" the boy yells
"wha da.." before the rest of the sentence can be spoken his wall is moving. As if following some invisible circle his wall and the child's wall change sides but now the childs new wall faces towards Lucid. "...Ive been tricked!", Lucid can't help but admire the underhandedness of the child.
"Veerrry nice!!!," Lucid begins to laugh,"haha, hahahahaaa!!! Tell you what boy, I'll accept your challenge, and I won't even charge you when I win." he says it in such a sly and smooth fashion that one wouldn't believe he was truly worried about losing.

Hours after the fight he starts to contemplate the luck part of the cards. Lucid reasons that it was not luck that helped win but skill and a cunning mind. He scratches his chin, "The voice...it can't be explained other than the inner voice that whispers in our ear and if we are not paying attention we don't even hear it. It never yells or gets angry at you for not listening. It is always there and always will be waiting to be heard. Cuuboy should have won. He surely could have but made too many mistakes. Luck can't cure mistakes. He was playing fine until a voice came to distract him. Not the calm voice but the noisy one that can't be ignored. It took him away from the inner voice and thus conflict ensued within. That time was costly."
And it was. It gave Lucid enough time to concentrate his mana while fortifying his wall and a constant assault on that HUGE tower. Lucid constantly checked Cuuboy's life points to not let him get too far ahead.
These distractions and a hunger to win drove Lucid to defy the odds of luck and win with skill, no defied the odds by listening to the voice...
"...the voice...I havent heard that voice since...back when my name was..."

So many wins in a row. Lucid was almost at his personal best of 10 wins in a row. Oh well. Lost 3 times. Despite this he has been having a great day. Traveling relearning the rules of the different regions. Some cards are more effective in one region while totally worthless in others. Now he has come to a realization. In his last battle he had so much stored up mana but could not tap into the blue cards to cast any spells. Within the final moments of the match Lucid decided that next time if he can't win by gaining the most life, next time he'll just attack head on with no fear of defeat. Better to go out swinging than sitting waiting for something that is not coming. "I refuse to say it was bad luck that beat me. Next time I'll just change my plan. Maybe thats the secret to..."
The man sitting besides him wakes from his nap and asks Lucid what he had said. Lucid begins to chuckle nervously and scratch his head "Oh! Sorry didn't mean to wake you Pantheon."
Pantheon waves his hand to indicate its ok and goes back to sleep in the barn where he is resting for the night in some stacks of hay.
Lucid leans against a post and gazes into the night sky as he often does. Not to many stars tonight. He wonders if the rumors are true that Arctic has returned. From there his thoughts shift to Arctic's sister Sry and how much stronger she must be after all this time. Maybe one day he'll get to battle them in a card match. Maybe one day even Kusika. |

OUT OF STORY MODE NOW.
In case some of you guys did not notice posts 45-49 are part of a story I came up with that I will continue for as long as this thread lives.
I will have people who I actually have card duels with mentioned, as you will notice if you read them, along with people who I just know from the game.
Its gonna be kinda like Yu Gi Oh in the sense that the cards are like spells that take form. The more familiar I get with the cards the better the story will get (hopefully).
I'm not that good at writing but I like telling stories. So if you don't enjoy my stories then its probably cuz I kicked your butt in cards, muhahahahahaaaa |

Yeah I know I know your all excited but please try and contain yourselves as
your card king has returned. Course I gotta re-train under my other alter
egos to familiarize myself with the cards again. Now don't forget boys and
girls when it comes to cards I win with skill and you all win by luck. |

Well Omega22 I am on from 6:00 game time to about 11:00 game time usually.
My max currently is 2000 so we can play that every once and so often unless I
beat you. Haha. Well let us see what tomorrow brings.

| well after this entry I should re enter into story mode for any of you who found it remotely interesting. I have come to a new purpose now for my card playing. Something that has helped ease the pain when I lose to people I know I can....well anyways, its the thread, it is a LINK OF SUPPORT that helps me to lose gracefully becuase I can spread the word. |
k, well this ain't story mode, just griping mode...
Ya know, sometimes I wonder about this card game. I mean, the system seems flawed. It seems it wants to be random but still has a system. The last 6 games or so I have gotten the cards that I DON'T have the ability to cast. I'm not losing to skilled players, well except the last one but I know I could beat him. I'm losing becuase the opponent is lucky.

Believe it or not, I'm not really mad bout it, well I'm mad but not like usual.
I've played card games since I was 3, so I have 30 years under my belt. This system is not totally random. It has a goblin working a system. I say this as a goof but I'm serious. The system doesn't have enough to randomize it. I have seen this before. Once I figure out the limited wanna be random but not random ways, there will be no defeating me.
Then again...well I guess I'll just stop now........ |

Like the last 8 or more games I'll have a butt load on the one color the stupid game WON'T give me!! I told you guys the only way to beat me is luck. And you can all keep your luck. I doubt this game will ever evolve further but if it ever did, bet your bottom dollar I'd be one of the fiercest forces out there... |
