Author | Tavern and battles violations abuse |
I would like to express a concern about the way these things are reported and penalised there. The fact that rules about what is allowed in combat and tavern chat are not stated anywhere in general rules doesnt concern me too much, because we can suppose forum and chat rules apply here.
What concerns me is the reasons why violations are reported. A pure act of revenge, players pretending words like dumb or noob offended them. While they reply: "Haha I got you, you will be reported." or "You will get penalty, noob is a swear."
I think people should behave but I dont like the idea of looking over shoulder while using word like damn when connection runs off. |
I totally agree with you!!!
I cannot accept real rudeness and "bad" words, but sometimes I see people reacting for nothing ... |
yeah, my old account got banned for this, the guy who helped me in a hunt was swearing with really bad words (including the f word and insulting my mother etc.) I said noob, he reported me and I got banned and he got nothing -__-' |
3: That sounds not very probable and I am not really sure what you mean by banned. Would you mind revealing the nick of the account mentioned? |
Well, most times someone uses an "insulting" word like dumb or noob, is just to get on the nerves of someone. And even make him curse and then the person that started the whole thing reports the second one(I've seen it happening countless times)... As far as I'm concerned, when someone uses such words I tell him to stop or I'll report him as a warning before the conversation gets out of hand. And it's not all that difficult to talk in a civilized manner. |
Well, I think that people who get upset when called a noob or dumb should not play online games or even use the internet... |
I'd like to mention two things:
1. Keepers only act when there is a thread created in Complaints and Application forum. No thread, no complaint.
2. People may be more or less sensible to swear and foul words. Perhaps you don't care for being called a "noob", perhaps others will feel deeply insulted.
So, if I take RGWarior's example.... yeah, my old account got banned for this, the guy who helped me in a hunt was swearing with really bad words (...) I said noob, he reported me and I got banned and he got nothing -__-' ...this situation probably appeared because only the guy complained. If RGWarior didn't complain, it means the language was fine for him. But I don't want to get too far in my explanations since I don't have a link to the case.
3. Some vicious people try to excite other players to draw insults and foul words from them and later scream abuse. We weight these cases carefully, for the strategy is generally obvious from the battle log. Yet, it's each player's responsibility not to fall in the trap.
Let me remind that each time you use foul language, you take a risk. You may find appropriate to swear in certain circumstances but you'd better not do it, a 5000 gold fine is not something to ignore. And a rule of thumb, I can only remind players to keep their nerves at all times, no matter how annoying their teammates or enemies can be.
Plus, the less swear is in use here the less you'll hear from neutrals! ^_^ |
ok, that's three things ^_^ |
Kotrin, I understand all you say ... still ... considering we are role-playing tough warriors, demons, evil elves and the like, a more "colorful" talk should be tolerated ... but I bow in front of the "law hammer" ;) |
Oh, OndaNera, I 100% agree with your statement.
I'd like to see more teasing and boasting in battle chat, it could be very amusing! "Come to your death, puny mortals!" instead of the all too common "hi" or "hi, gl! - gl too" constantly seen in the beginning of a battle...
But this is another topic. And I'm sure it's possible to play in character without using foul words, just use some creativity. |
mmm ... Kotrin ... I think I will use your suggestions in my next group fight ... eh eh eh ... let's see ;) |
haha i've always thought this game was pretty tame compared to others i've played. if you get offended by whats said here you'd better stay away from the internet ;) |
i remember a case that was put to the judge (RL) in my country. someone called a policeman a (translated) "stupid-talker" (a little bit more rude, but i can't translate the word to english. it's anexpression that is used for a person that talks a lot - but not toooo cleverly =).
The courts decided that it was NOT an offense - but a mere statement of that person. and between the lines they told the policeman someting like: "seriously, you have nothin better to do than to burden our legal system with such peanuts??? gawd, you MUST e a "stupid-talker", for real!!!
=)
i guess only noobs are offended by being called one...
and penaltys should simply not be given for such expressions. sometimes people do stupid things and/ or play like beginners. we should treat remarks concerning that as pure statements.
But - don't mather how bad you play - we should also stictly forbid to tell a person *ç&+& or %"&' and to ç#%& your mommas %*ç#...
what i wanted to say: don't make offends too subjectiv. some people are offended by quite childish or even everyday word - and these people should not be the measure for "poltite" and accepted formulations. Instead it should be COMMON sense. |
some people are offended by quite childish or even everyday word
There are many under-aged players, especially in low levels, so such behavior is to be expected. And I'm not so sure who's attitude is more childish, the one offended by a childish word or the one that said it in the first place? |

well, for me personaly that doesent matter. as in my previous post: The courts decided that it was NOT an offense - but a mere statement of that person. and between the lines they told the policeman someting like: "seriously, you have nothin better to do than to burden our legal system with such peanuts??? gawd, you MUST e a "stupid-talker", for real!!! |
the newest topic in that section of the forum "Shooting on the ally" is just another evidence that the people responsible for these things either can't think, or just don't bother to do it, since they just punish everyone being reported, without taking what actually happened into account:( |
13:
In my country, there was a similar case a weeks ago!!! An employee called his boss SOB, and then he gets fired. The court said that he had to be employed again cuz that word has passed to be very vulgar in our language and happens to be in a lot of conversations, so the employee had recovered his job. |

Do you think you look smart by posting such insulting comments?
1. The Demon player felt offended enough to complain. The other player received merely a warning.
2. Regarding battle tactic, using Volley wasn't necessary - Volley deals 50% damage, it is usually useful only if you hit 3 stacks or more. And yes, shooting at friendly troops is rude.
3. If the Knight player was so eager to use volley, he could have caught his own Swordsmen in the Volley instead of demon troops.
4. Your remark is off-topic.
5. Complaints regarding penalties, etc. should be dealt to Secretary.
I'm in a good mood, I won't ban you this time, even if you deserve it.
Now people stick to topic, thank you. |
