I have 27 surplus trinkets, and 1 more star to get to open the final lock.
What is interesting is that of my 28 locks 11 were stars and I didn't get my first star until my 26th trinket.

LOL I just got my last star and opened the final chest. T'was a master hunter amulet.
Well I achieved my goal of finishing the thing. It wasn't easy, that's for sure, and I'm a lot poorer (in game) for it.
