questions about smithing

Authorquestions about smithing
1.the enchantment on armor and shield says ___ magic shield_% does that mean it only protects from Magic spells?
2.what about inflame from incendiaries and thunder bolt from thunder birds(and other various creatures)? do they count as "magic" attack?
3. magic punch doesn't deal magic damage, instead it deals melee damage, but it still counts as a natural "magic" spell, so if the enchantment does protects you from that?
4. if you know, can you give me a link to a topic or fourm that talks and give details about this?
sorry for so many question, but i just started on smiting and enchanting
Answer

1. Yes , each percent will decrease magic spell damage depend on how much percent it protect. (E.G. 2% Earth Shield , EarthSpike deal 100 damage then - 2% = 98 damage only you received)

2.I think those abilities does not effect shield.

3.No magic punch does not effect the shield but i think there an enchantment to protect from nature magic.

4.I don't have sorry.
1. As long as the damage is elemental of that type, it should.
2. Inflame does fire elemental damage, while Thunderbolt does air elemental damage.
3. Not elemental, or often referred as "physical", can't be resisted by any type of magic resistance.
oh...so is that the reason why people ususally only use enchantments in pvps? (not much npc creature does magic attack, or at least at this lv)
I think it is because of resistance from enchanted weapons (you have enchanted sword what will give additional fire, earth, air, water dmg. so to reduce taken damage from enchanted sword you need enchanted weapons.
