It will try to hit more targets, with counter-clockwise direction given the priority, large creature that occupies 2 tiles counts as 2. Also same for hydra, but for 6 tiles. |

Does that means it attacks like this:

Where X are the extra spots hit,
B is your creature,
and B is the creature you targeted.

This explains the hydra's behaviour. |

If you attack B there is a chance to hit ABC, but thats not 100% |
