Author | New Class: Blackguard |
Leader of all that is unholy, the Blackguard is the optimism of pure evil. While still living, it is believed these "anti-paladins" possess no soul. Blackguards may call upon their dark gods, gaining the ability to cast holy and darkness spells. Though Blackguards may be powerful, not many creatures hearts are evil enough to fight for his (her) sinister causes.
Class ability: Evil Aura- All blackguard units give off an aura, decreasing attack and defense of enemy units adjacent to them by 1*class level.

Ability Description
Clamp- When a unit with this ability attacks, it latches onto that unit and travels with it when it moves.
Enticing Song- Activated Ability. When this ability is used, it lures the creature on which it was cast to the caster.
Weighted Arrows- Range is decreased by 1, by creatues in range receive an extra 20% damage.
Throw- Triggering Ability. The unit grabs the enemy and throws him backwards three squares, destroying all accumulated initiative. This attack does 50% normal damage, and 25% damage to any units hit by the throw.
Devour- The unit with this ability eats the units it kills, and regains 50% of that units health. Devoured units cannot be resurrected.
Petrifying Gaze- Triggering Ability. The Unit struck by this is turned into stone until he is either attacked, or misses three of his turns. Attacks from heroes do count.
Displacement- The unit with this ability can move onto other units, pushing them out of the way in the process. If they have nowhere to move, this ability doesn't work. Doesn't work on large creatures.
Thanks for reading! Comments/feedback would be nice. |
yeah..very nice...+1+1+1=+3
1 problem,tiers 1-4 is knida low hp,dont u think. |
well, tier 1 has 8HP i think that would be second highest to bandits...
Tier 2 has 12 hp, thats what fk have, and is pretty average.
Tier 3 has 16hp, just like orc and swords. Sure its not mino, but its a range unit, which tend to have lower health.
And for tier 4, 45HP is second only to ogre.
I dont think they're that low on HP :p |
devour...that would deal great dmg to those necros who raise alot |
Not too weak, not too overpowered..I like it =3
+1 |
You are missing something : Each faction has 3 Large Creatures and 4 Normal Ones. Also, some ability seems a bit strong imho. |
Put in some description and rework them a little..
Off topic:Some of these abilities and monster names are from Dota :D.. |
Dungeons & Dragons in LWM? |
Tz-Backstab Ive never even played Dota, and OndaNera ive never played Dungeons and Dragons either.
Dan-Panic... I guess the Umber Hulk and the Vrock can be large creatures. |
Dan-Panic why do you think the abilities are too strong?
Clamp can actually be a bad thing, as the unit you attack can drag you within range of their bows...
Weighted Arrows lowers the range to 5. not many creatures are going to be in his range since most creatures have 5-6 speed. The drider is a large creature this cant be protected by placing units in front of it (unless you have tactics) which make it an easy target.
Throw is a triggering ability. Its pretty much the same as knockback except it dmages whatever it hits with the unit it knocks back (but at reduced damage.)
Devour is devastating to necros that raise alot, but Ravenous Umber Hulk can easily be killed from range as they have low defense (4), average health (50) and low initiative (8.)
Petrifying Gaze is a triggering ability so it cant be relied on. Sure it turns the creature to stone, but the main reason the slow something down is to get extra hits in, but if you hit the petrified creature it de-petrifies.
As for displacement, it doesn't work very well for getting to archers in the corner because there usually isn't anywhere the push the units around it to.
Also, none of the Blackguard units have no retaliation, or unlimited Retaliation, which are really powerful, but overlooked. Blackguards are pretty ability balanced. =) |
You do realize that each fraction has only 1 base stat point. Yours has 2 attack and knowledge. |
I know that, but the Blackguard is a capable warrior as well as a spell caster, and it felt wrong to give it zero attack or zero knowledge.
Oh,and you made a typo. its 1 attack and knowledge, combined to two. :p |
No, I forgot to add a comma. |
that works too. |
+1 |
i dont think they got low hp |

You could give them +1 attack, +1 knowledge and -3% initiative or 0 morale or something |
0 morale or something - i think that would suit a them. |
too much power for early tiers |
i've never played Dungeons and Dragons either
funny ... because Blackguard is a special class of D&D heroes, and all the name of the monsters are from D&D as well ... some are even uniquely created for specific D&D scenarios (like the Drider, the cursed drow males fo Forgotten Realms).
btw, nice class .. but as usual: why bother proposing something here since our adm's don't care? |
