your allowed up to 3 characters. Just be sure to follow all the rules, such as not trading with your own characters (it is cheating) and NOT sending gold or items to your multi's.
Be sure to state your current hero as your main and the other one or two as your multi's both on your main and multi info located at the bottom of your character screen.
Then after your finished with one you can play with your multi's and explore the other classes if you wish.
Thats what I would do if I just wanted to play this game all night or day long. Well hope that was of some help.
