the main difference is:
offense talents only affect your melee troops
cold blade is for all, including ranged |
offense talents only affect your melee troops
So for me (DE), it is pointless to use cold blade when i don't fight with poisoners? |

yes, but even if you do use poisoners, due to their range penalties the cold blade talent will hardly make a difference. |
