AuthorHow Large units move on diagonal?
How do large units move on diagonal? I have the following sketch bellow, where
BB stands for 'busy' square (i.e., ocupied by an unit)
LI stands for Initial position of a large unit (4 squares)
LF stands for Final position of a large unit (4 squares)

Is it allowed that a large unit moves from position LI into a position LF by passing through only ONE square MM in diagonal?
Is this legal, or maybe a bug?
--------------------------
| BB | BB | | LI | LI |
--------------------------
| BB | BB | | LI | LI |
--------------------------
| | | MM | | |
--------------------------
| LF | LF | | BB | BB |
--------------------------
| LF | LF | | BB | BB |
--------------------------

LI went into LF surely by passing through MM (there was no other way, it was blocked from all other sides)

Thanks!
uh...this stuff eats up the empty spaces... i'll repost the sketch with something instead of empty spaces.
Here you go, __ stands for an empty space:

--------------------------
| BB | BB | __ | LI | LI |
--------------------------
| BB | BB | __ | LI | LI |
--------------------------
| __ | __ | MM | __ | __ |
--------------------------
| LF | LF | __ | BB | BB |
--------------------------
| LF | LF | __ | BB | BB |
--------------------------
and another addition (oh, EDIT EDIT!...): the large unit does not fly, nor teleport (hydra)
And MM square is empty as well. I've baptized it just so that I can refer to it.
Yes, it can pass through one square that way. Not sure how to explain it and see in which situations it can go through and when not, but like this, it can pass. You could kinda imagine it twists 45° and squeezes through. If you look in the middle you could draw a square that is rotated 45° that kinda fits in between then occupied spaces.
It's not allowed.
for Fosgeen: Yes, I've seen it happening...got meself an unprepared hit under the belt. But should it be allowed?
I mean, no matter how I use my imagination to squeeze from one side, rotate in another, then squeeze some more from that other... it doesn't compute to me that that bloody bloated fluffy big fat hydra can move through only one square on the diagonal...

Maybe some staff rep. could say if this is supposed to be like that? or ... is it a bug???
yes, in the case you drew the unit is allowed to pass. actually this will help you to figure out how it works :}

on the first chart the unit passes; on the second chart it doesn't pass.
Okay then, I guess then it's supposed to be like that (our spy to the russians knows what she's talking about...;-) )

Good to know. Thanks.
