Probable Script Use at Seraph's Tears

AuthorProbable Script Use at Seraph's Tears
Just recently my multis and I went travelling to Seraph's Tears to purchase some new equipment. Coincidently it was time for all three to re-enrol.

At 12.40 PM AEST or 2.40 game time (with 344 people online)my main toon Ravensclaw purchased 2 Prophet Rings. Over 40 seconds back to back my main and my multis enrolled in the facilities.

Within a few seconds of my purchasing and enrolling, someone was selling raw materials in the Oracle Jewelry (factory). Approx 35000 gp of raw materials were sold to the factory as I was enrolling, and as quickly as I was enrolling.

A few points of observation.

Seraph's Tears is one of the 3 remotest territories in the game.
At the time of this incident there were only 344 toons logged in.
There are only 3 factories at Seraph's Tears, all of which sell mid to high level items, and all of which are non-essential items for the minimum AP rule.

So knowing this, who would spend hours at a time at Seraph's Tears refreshing the screen every few seconds so they could sell resources back to the factory, at the least optimal time, in the least optimal place?

The only way this makes sense is if there are scripts at play.

Cheers
3.9. Additional characters created for any kind of support to the main one ("multichars" later on), (e.g. resource and artifact keeping, trading, assists in combat or enrollment) are forbidden. All multichars found will be banned, and the owner will be subject to penalty.

just a little warning to you
Hi moro88

Your warning is not necessary. I have done nothing wrong.

I have never used a multi to assist my main character in any way, including enrolment.

If you have suspicions PM me. If you believe you have evidence, report it, and I'll defend myself in the appropriate manner.

Otherwise this topic is about possible/probable scripts being used.

Cheers
why so serious?if you haven't done anything wrong..like you said..you would not posted your response don't you ? =)

only plain advise for you..thats it

you think too much

Hi moro88

Advice is good, but what is implied by your "warning" I'm not so sure about. A moment of poor judgement perhaps... but then I see we have a second attempt by you to imply my guilt of some unspecified wrongdoing.

Do I think too much ??? Maybe ? Perhaps when you have time, read below to understand my perspective.

This practice of "superfast" selling of resources at factories timed to occur just after people enrol has been happening consistently for a long while.
had several players suffering from autism or some compulsive disorder, they can't be that superhuman i.e. doing this all day, for so many months, even in locations with little traffic and with so few online.

So based on that I think the use of illegal scripts in this game is likely.

So if I were a person using illegal scripts, and I saw someone raise the issue with the game's community what would I do about it?

Even if we
a. I could be quiet and not draw any attention to myself. - This sometimes works, usually from lack of interest.
b. Attack the evidence. - This almost always results in a loss by the guilty party. Like in Poker, bluffing rarely works, as you eventually get caught out in the end.
c. Attack the person who has highlighted the issue and/or presented the evidence. - Ad Hominen attacks are the usual means to end an argument. Discredit the accuser, you discredit the case. On these message boards you can't directly insult anyone. However there is a nice shade of grey on what can be implied. And unfortunately, if enough mud is thrown, enough mud will stick.

Errata

The two broken sentences should be joined.

Even if we and had several players suffering from autism or some compulsive disorder, they can't be that superhuman i.e. doing this all day, for so many months, even in locations with little traffic and with so few online.

I have no idea how that sentence ended up how it did.

It is circumstantial evidence, but I agree with you. There are a lot of us who think that we have cheaters using scripts to enroll.

All we can hope is that the admins will become active again, find and ban those cheaters…
It's so obvious that some players are using scripts, but of course we can't prove it.

With this suggestion

implemented we could at least know who are very big ******** in this game.

I am not sure about this (although it is certainly possible that the code my be circumvented).

My main suspicion is that scripts are used to sell resources at factories immediately after other people enrol, or immediately after someone buys an artifact at the factory.

Although profit margins are small, during peak hours in heavily populated areas it may be possible to earn several hundred gold per hour just sitting their refreshing the screen every few seconds either waiting for someone to buy an artifact or waiting for people to enrol.

However during the least optimal times when there are only a few hundred logged in it is quite posssible there not be a single enrolment in a factory for several hours, so it is very hard to believe someone sitting in front of their computer refreshing their screen every few seconds and doing this constantly for several hours for very few sales.

And to top it off, this happened to me today at Seraph's Tears, with very few players logged on. It just doesn't make sense for players hanging out in that remote area refreshing their screens every few seconds to sell resources at those factories.

It's not just at Seraph Tears. There are several places where some players are using selling scripts. I can't prove that but the activity is just far too unlikely.

It happened to me most recently when logging into the nickel plant at Misty Coast. It is often possible to sell all three of the resources (wood, ore, mercury) after enrolling at Misty Coast. Other times, when the script is active, all three will be sold before it is possible to hit backarrow, let alone enter even one resource. It is not possible for a single player to do this manually, so it is either an automatic script or three players refreshing their screens every few seconds ... Which is the most likely explanation?

It should not be too difficult to detect this very rapid selling automatically and monitor the activity of those players until enough evidence was collected.
A moment ago I was At Seraph's Tear again to purchase a Pendant of Despair.

The pendant costs over 17000 gold. After purchasing the pendant I immediately enrolled at the site. By the time I put in the code, there was only 4000 gold showing at the site. 2 seconds (a screen refresh) later it was down to 400 gold.

There is no way a person could manually be doing this. A person with Autism can't be that good. It has to be a script.
