Give us LIFE, or give us more LIVES.

AuthorGive us LIFE, or give us more LIVES.
Recently, I have seen a deluge of negative threads and posts in the forums. Well, I'm here to try and add a little positivity to this land of gloom and doom.

First, some food for thought to chew on -

When I joined the game just over a year ago, we had about 1000+ during the peak hours.

1. During the past year, many players have left the game for 1 reason or another,

- Hundreds of cheaters/illegal multis/whatever etc have been blocked.

- Some/many got demoralized with the so-called lack of updates during the 'dark age'/negative threads and posts in forums etc, and left,

- some/many have left coz of personal reasons (got gf/bf/married/work/whatever,

- and many other who was here a year ago, and is no longer here now for whatever reasons.

Now, after so many players have gone, we are STILL getting 1000+ players during peak hours.

So obviously, there are NEW players joining this game, to replace those who left/got blocked. If the players who were here 1-2 years ago were still playing, we would probably have close to/over 2000+ during peak hours.

I read from another thread - about this level 1 character, who has 0 level in all guilds, has never done a single battle or enroll, and yet have MILLIONS of gold. 1 of the possibilities given was that this character is actually an Empire character used for some referral link, and the gold was the referral bonus.

If all of us regulars (500-800 of us, taking into account multis) were just to bring ONE person (some might bring more, some none, so 1 is a good average)into the game, our numbers would double. Is that really hard?

My country is small (just over 4 million). All I did was just 'advertise' (post a thread talking about this game with some screen shots) in a local gaming site, and the response was pretty decent.

If all of us from different countries are to just take a few minutes to post in their local gaming forums, I believe it's not hard to get ONE (probably more) to join this great game.

Of course, the side incentive is that we actually get GOLD from using our referral link. I myself have earned around 200-300k from introducing players to this game. Much better than illegal transfers, don't you think. :)

Most of us are regulars, and we take such negative comments with a pinch of salt, and we forget sometimes that our negative remarks are actually making players, esp. newbies, leave the game(!) Is this really what we want?

500 may join, 400 may leave, but we'll still have 100 new members in our community.

ONE new player per person - May be hard, may be easy. But we'll never know unless we try. It's definitely much better than waiting for 'death' and adding to all the negativity here... don't you agree?
* 3000 words maxed out in previous post. *

Now, as for all these negative threads/posts from some here, I would like you to look at this example,

Look at this thread. A newbie joins this game, 1 negative remark from Margorita (just giving an example and not meant to pin-point this player) in reply, and the thread starter NEVER log in again. N.E.V.E.R.

Do we really want to contribute to the 'death' of this server?

Since everyone keeps talking about the same things over and over again, let's see some facts:

Old players: Mostly quit because of the lack of events and because the updates we really get are money earning for the admins and kill the game play they're used to (AP rule, Enchanters update, TGI changes, etc).

I myself find the game still a bit entertaining so I keep playing. When I get bored or frustrated I'll just quit it since after more than a year I realize nothing will really change for the better here. Admin supporters will defend them with the silly lying excuse they do not know English and frustrated players will just make a fuzz and accuse admins on the forum that will never be read from the people it's intended for.

New players: They get to a game where in order to enjoy some key features they need much much much time or Euros. TGI is out of reach for newcomers (over 2k enrolls=2k hours spent here [well, not full hours but you get the picture ;P] or 80 Euros ...), enchanting is too costly too. So either they can just play a "demo version" of the game or pay real money or burn many brain cells to enjoy it! Oh, and we don't even have the LG update yet, we'll have a party then :D

I had invited some friends on the game (1 old player keeps playing, all others quit) but I surely won't do it ever again as I know they won't really enjoy this great game. It's a pity really because it has a lot of potential but that's the truth.
hmmm.. what should i tell my friends about this 'great' game...

Please join this awesome game becasue bla bla bla ... HOWEVER (BIG however) there has not been any update and admin activity for a while...

No thank you... Im not going to make them waste their time here... I still enjoy this game but were it to close today, I wont give a s**t.
K, before more posts about inviting their friends, this thread is not talking about inviting friends. Most of us does that without any prompting.

Most of us have a limited circle of friends we know are into online games. this is to reach out to a far, far greater number, for a indefinitely period of time.

Posting in online forum/game sites have many advantages over inviting one's own friends.

- The number is far greater, maybe even 100s of thousands for some countries.

- The 'advertising' period is longer. I check my invitation list once a while and am surprised to see new names popping up. This is MONTHS after I opened threads in some online gaming sites/forums.

- You only have to do it once and it takes only about 10-15 minutes. Once you write the post/opened the thread, that's it. Nothing more. I don't even visit the sites I posted anymore.

Some suggestion for those who are thining about doing it though -

- Don't just give your referral link. Give also LWM's main registering page/web address. Some people are worried that the referral link is a phishing site, and avoid it.

- Be upfront that the link (if you are gonna use it instead of the main registering page) is your referral link, and that if they use it to register, they wouldn't be at a disadvantage when they join using it.

- Try to include some enticing pictures. Like they say, a picture speaks a thousand words.

Not saying that any of you people should do it, but like I said, it has been effective for me, and 200-300k gold from my invitation link is testimonial of that.
Response to Post # 6.

What you of course mean is - this is the "truth" and "facts" *as you see them*.

My "truth" and "facts" are a little different.

In so many other online games, things are a lot more Draconian than they are here. Things like TGIs wouldn't exist in the first place; the *only* way of entering the Thieves Guild would be by paying a smaller number of Diamonds perhaps, but you wouldn't get another TGI for TG5. IMO TGIs were supposed to be something special, but with the TGI rules the way they were, TGIs were becoming so commonplace that everyone was *expecting* to become a member without any real effort at all. Eventually everyone on the server would have been a TG member, and you wouldn't be able to give TGIs away.

Every online game experiences adjustments, closing rules loopholes as people exploit them, and tweaking things to make the game more fair. So often you see legions of players complaining that "early adopters" got benefits that others can no longer achieve. Is it really so surprising that this happened here? And tell me, how do the Admins gain money by changing the costs of talents for different factions? How do they gain money by removing costs from Mini-Art creation? Adding Mithril and Crytsal Items? Talents themselves don't cost anyone anything do they? Is *every* change really so focused on earning money for the Admins? Or is that just you and others only pay most attention to the ones that do so?

Take the AP rule. Is anyone seriously inconvenienced by that? It's not really that much trouble to use some cheap artifacts occasionally is it? And the motivation for introducing such a rule is probably more focussed on getting the economic system to function as it was supposed to. Production facilities were never intended to be endless fountains of money for enrolling and nothing else. What was supposed to happen was that people were intended to buy Arts to help win battles, and there was an XP/FSP penalty for having artifacts below a certain level. Nobody notices that anymore because Minimum AP *is* that level. Without that turnover of artifacts from the minimum AP rule, most production facilities wouldn't have a need for more than 2 or 3 enrolling places.

And the workaholic penalty was intended to stop stuff like characters of Combat Level 2 or 3 owning a disproportionate number of the estates in the game. These players were just enrolling and not much else, ending up with a huge gold balance that other players couldn't compete with when it came to bidding for Estates. Once again, it's not much more than a mild inconvenience for most active players. And the game is called Lords of War *and* Money for a reason, it's not just Lords of War. Many have probably never even noticed that the rule is there. 1 successful battle for every 10 enrolls, is it really so hard?

In fact the players most likely inconvenienced by the AP and Workaholic rules are those with a network of illegal characters pumping money to support their main character. So often you see yet another illegal multi discarded because it reached level 5 and now has to fight to earn, and buy artifacts to fight. Genuine players don't really seem to have so much of a problem.

The only thing I would like is more frequent updates and events. But since I haven't achieved combat level 14 yet, I have plenty to do so it's not a big concern *for me*. I can understand that high level players might find this to be a problem, but it's a bit laughable when low to mid level players complain about it.

Anyway, my 2 cents worth.

I forgot to mention one important fact: All of the above are core players from other games that I play, and all of them started to read this forum right after they registered.
WE should try together to advertise the game by creating a website with all the URLs needed to advertise.. then we can post those link to the advertising website in all the forums we go to such as facebook, yahoo and hotmail...ETC
