AuthorMagic or might Demon
Well since I've gotten my spawns to steal mana I've been wondering would it be better to be a might demon or magic one. With standard minimum Ap I'm able to grasp the gist of might demon, but I cannot test out the full extend of a magic build as it would be costly. So can someone explain to me which one is better for my level, and also at lv 8?
for you i think it would be better might becouse to be magic youll spend a lot of money.
later on everybody will have enchated arts or arts that have magic proof
barbarians have already magic proof
i think DEs and Wizards are the best mages

i think its actually better to be magic demon at lv5-7 ffor pvp purposes, if i remember right

post level 8 you want to be might build

the problem with demon mages is chaos talents cost 10 = too much

but at higher levels dark magic build might pay off with recent changes to mass darkness spells
during lv5-7 demon is a good candidate for magic build (for pvp at least). you can focus your stat on 2Kn and the rest in Sp. even if you use only min arts it should be enough. at lvl 8 onward, might is preferred because ur main attacking unis shifts from spawn to incend & hellhorse (and later cerberi).
Be a magic demon when you can afford at least hellfire and 2 dark magic talents (basic dark magic + mass disrupt/poison). Still, I only use this in 3vs3 battles.

For everything else, might build +1 to knowledge is best.
at lvls 5-7, as dedengkot said, demon is a good candidate for magic. You will own all factions exept clever barbarians and very clever elfs; with might build you will lose to average elfs and necroes=)

not really, if i remembered correctly, i loved playing against elves in lvl 7. easy meat =)

play smart and you can beat almost anyone =/

at lvl 5 and 6, at lvl 7 chances to lose to elf decrease, yes.
Why not try?
Remind you, Magic-build is for PvP. You can still manage well in hunts/mercs/other stuff in future, if you don't hunt all the time (when creature count raises too much).
When we have a look, Magic Demon is having many good creatures:

- Spawns: They give you mana
- Incendiaries: They're durable and Inflame works as well as Might-Demon would use it.
- Wolves: Okey, you can use them like Gargs and run? Magic-DE can do that with Shrews.
- Succubi: Split them well and let them spread your hellfire.
- Hell Horses: Fear works normally, just scare your enemies away.

On lv11, you can use Hellfire+Searing Fires which makes some more use for Hellfire.
Other good things to remember as Magic-Demon: You can block enemy's shooters with your units and use your gated units for defending ''real'' ones :)
Why not try to be both with talents in offence to make up for less attack? I keep shifting from dark magic to chaos while constantly having atleast basic offence at lvl 9 or why not try hellfire for a bit of extra dmg and if you are lucky, at a crucial point in a PvP?

Demon is very bad at chaos magic at midlle-high lvls:
Just to start (and thats only a start, there r much more reasons why demon is bad in magic build): lack of HP in army - ((at 15 lvl DE have something like 6500HP with good protected hydras; wizard 5200HP with good protected and mobil gargs (near 2500HP in gargs with miniarts +HP); demon have like 4000HP and most of his armys HP r concentrated in incs with low defence and low mobility)) and all of his units have low defence in comarasion with DE and wiz.

I gave my opinion only till lv8, if we look on lv15, Demon has also:

- Cerberies, 1 trigger of Hellfire deals 3 targets..
- Mistresses, dunno how Hellfire acts with chain shot.
- Nightmares with their Intimidation Aura.
- Pit Lords, they kill one t7 creatures per hit...
- Devils... Okay, nothing good to say about them.
Penguinmaniac nice theory, in practice try to play with demon first and try it with might and magic build then we could talk about how nice it is in that magic build;) Dont forget that if you go magic build your damage is dramaticly lower then in might one, hellfire trigger when you dont need it like at 1 spawn that was takin retail and it will cost you 5 mana. Mistresses - hellfire works only at melee... Please dont talk about you dont know man=)
And what consern Gatekeepers lvl i told before that at lvls 5-7, as dedengkot said, demon is a good candidate for magic.
sorry not only at melee, but hellfire is a very bad talent in my opinion any way)

And Hellfire is great talent when you have enough Mana. It really get's it use when you can boost it's damage with Searing Fire, which you haven't either tried ''karamba'' ;)

what you dont want to understand is that you cant build tactic from HF that trigger with 30% of chance and that eat 5 mana. Demons have not erudition talents as wizards and DE, they cant take intellect that gives +50% mana, chaos talent cost 10 point... You guys just are afraid of new tactics
all those tactics was tested and retested many times by demons at .ru and even fans of chaos build demons dont use it. Man you just talking about something that you never tested and thats would look funny if that wasnt so sad, I want to play chaos demon but I cant..and yes I tested chaos build. Btw demon at lvl 10 cant take Searing fire, not enough points.
And now compare that "imba" HellFire talent that do 7+7*SP for 5 mana with lightining at expert chaos talent - 17+17*SP for same 5 mana AND you can chose what to hit with it and when you will do it.
Only duel might build vs magic build can proove TS that magic build not for demons.
