i would say that the hours are birds
first it took 4 birds(hours) east to west in the morning
then it took 6 birds(hours) east to west in the evening
thus there are 2 birds(hours) difference

Another creative answer is
in the morning the bird went to hell (which is easy to reach) from earth
so it took 4 hours
in the evening it went to heaven (which is hard to reach) from earth
so it took 6 hours.LOL |
