Author | Formation of an MC ethics council? |
You're talking about an ethics council now, because of what I see as a mildly questionable action by the leader of WGW? Where were you after the First Blindfold tournament? That's like making a big deal of a burglary but ignoring a murder.
You talking to me? If you are, you have no idea what you are saying. |
Ethics??? Ethics are nothing more than an excuse to get screwed by those who don't follow them
Wow, your opinion of the players on this server must be pretty low. Must have changed quickly some time after your rebellion affair that you so enjoyed.
I don't believe that clans would agree to something in good faith and then just look to find ways around it. Maybe I am wrong and if I am then the whole concept of MCs is rather pointless.
Where is that role player in you now? You can't see how a clan like this may be useful in the future?
completely agree |
for kiwi:
Yes if only some of the MC's joined a committee and agreed to certain standards of play it would create an uneven playing field. Which would likely favor those not in the committee who dont have to follow the rules. It all depends on who all would join and who wouldnt. Once you determine who is all willing to form a committee and agree on certain things then you can determine how much power they have.
If enough clans join there are ways to try and encourage others to join and play by the same agreement.
When it is all said and done there would be nothing but the reputation and word of the MC's, its leaders, and the committee members, that they play by the agreed rules.
All is fair in love and war right? But you will be remembered for your actions. If people want to cheat to win they can. They can also compromise success by accepting and following certain things even if they have the means to do otherwise, if they lose they do so with honor, and if they win it is all the more satisfying and respectable. |
For me an Ethics committee for Military Clans would spoil things. We would have no one bending rules and so no "goodies" and "baddies" amongst the clans.
There has been one in the UK parliament for decades but the MPs still manage to fiddle their expenses and pretend shock when some newspaper finds it out.
I would say that we need a Newspaper or Press facility. The gossip columns would make entertaining reading and issues could be spotlighted and discussed fully.
The forum fulfills the function well:)
If I belonged to a military clan that I believed to have committed a really evil deed...I would leave and join another. |
People here are really small thinkers. It doesn't have to be called an ethics committee. It could have many other uses and creative people can take it in many directions.
How many games have you played where the admin invites you to actually take part in governing? We have a unique situation with Arctic here that can be taken advantage of by willing participants.
Maybe its the generation gap but it is surprising to know that so many want to be spoon fed all the details here and want no part in developing the game when invited to do so.
It would be unwise to pass such an opportunity by. No reason not to try it but bad attitudes and laziness. |
think out of the box and get big picture |
This is not a subject for a public debate. This is for MC leaders to debate between them, and probably within the clan.
So send them the PM's if you want to take action. My opinion is that you won't get consensus on a public forum. |

I am amazed you bothered to grace us with your wisdom at all. Obviously you know best. Get on with it then and those who agree with you will join the "thought police" |
A Modi, i am not sure how old you are, but considering that I am also older then most of the gamers here I don't think you can put it on a age gap.
Purely the fact that many don't think it would greatly benefit the game.
So no reason to flame people down as we do not flame on you as well.
we merely express our opinion on an idea, not on your way of thinking. |
it can be a start and the beginning of new era, new story, new part
i thought about it earlier that some players should be more important part in story, in our fantasy world |
Just have a vote of all the MC leaders and see what they think about it. |

I know and I'm glad you also realize how lucky you are. I keep forgetting where I am when I make these posts. |

Possibly that, or possibly because the idea was posted by me. Now if Arctic, who in fact likes the idea, had created this thread, I am sure I would be reading..." Yay Arctic, an MC council clan!" LOL
Bet on that! |
-1 from me.
I have not spoken in the forums for a very long time but have been observing.
The idea of a committee further guiding our actions in game will only discourage people from having fun and playing the lively, fun, imaginative game as it was meant to be.
Different military clans have different goals and visions. Some may have different background and not all would like to live a life of chivalry and ethics. I can be a bully, a saboteur, a ruthless swindler, a wormtounge to incite people to join my clan's cause in the most dire of situation. Well, that's war and money guys!
Don't discourage me from playing anymore by further imposing rules and making me play like the rest of YOU. If we were all to play by the "textbook" nobody would be rouletting or playing tavern games.
It would be like saying the Arabs should eat pig cause it's delicious and good for your body. Some of us just don't want to follow. Upon registering for the game we read a wall of rules and regulations. That should be the only rule we adhere to. How a clan acts should be left to the Clan Leader and not a committee.

Not from me Modi, I would still not like the idea, even if arctic brought it.
And P.S. I have nothing against you, if you go back in forum history you see that I supported you in many discussion which i will in the future if I agree with that you state.
Again, it is not a flaming thread, purely my opinion on the idea.
Which is not even your idea to start with, so I did not discredit you in any way. |
ignore the last sentence, i miss read!! |

Part of being able to do what you want means you get people like me, who also lives in your community that has ideas different than yours, right? You can also always play the rebel who refuses to join any committee that may be formed. Right?
So you want to play the swindler and others may want to run a more lawful life and seek to better organize things. Hey, that's just like real life huh? |

Exactly. =) Just let it be Modi. Nobodies flaming you, just trying to be a good guy can sometimes be very painful. |

Modi's idea is very good, and personally I don't see why ALL Military Clans must be represented in such a committee. Afterall, if just a few MCs are into taking the MC roles a step further, that should be encouraged (as apparently is) by the LWM Administration - as anything that allows the LWM environment to be more rich and complex. Any MCs that do not "share the vision", simply stay out.
Lead, follow, or get the hell outta the way.
Btw, nice to see you around again, Bevan :) |
And to you as well Mighty Syrian :) |
