To all those who sell on market or to facilities...

AuthorTo all those who sell on market or to facilities...
You don't ALWAYS make money. For example, anyone selling the sword of retribution lower than 7996 is losing money once commission is factored in. And that's if you bought the resources at 369. Defender shield also is very close to breaking even selling on the market, though I last time I checked all of them still show a little profit, like 10 gold.
What is your point?

Sometimes players buy a defenders shield to enroll at a production facility. The basic wage is 25 gold higher than a mining facility. They then sell the defenders shield on to the market and even if they break even, they are still earning more than they would if they had chosen to enroll in a mining facility.

Agreed. What I do too. And the above doesn't factor it the multiplier AND the gold you get from selling resources into the factory you just enrolled in.
From the SoR facility, it's almost out of stock. There's no way you would have to buy something to enroll -- either the slot is there, or its not. I suppose I can see your point for the defender shield, but I would rather hang on to it. I'm pretty sure it has the lowest cost per AP per battle of any artifact in the game.
I think his point is that some people don't know about or remember the commission, although the sword of retribution is a bad example. I've seen plenty of people selling gems/crystals for 370, and not because they need some quick cash, since, judging from their transfer log, they do it a lot. It's quite possible that they believe they are making a profit.
for Geryon:

Yeah, that's my point. I guess the SoR is a bad example, I didn't think about the possibility of buying an art to enroll. But still, you should probably wait for an opportunity to sell it without losing money, especially if one of your goals in enrolling was to sell resources to the factory. They only give 3-7 per resource, and selling the art for a 10-20 gold loss puts a big dent in that.
Here's a good example:

He frequently sells gems for 371. That's a loss of 1 gold after commision. And you definitely can't say he needs to buy gems at Seraph's Tears to enroll.
Actually, the commission is 3.71 gold (rounded to 4), so usually a loss of 2 gold (buying price = 369 gold). If people buy more at a time, this would be reduced, eg. 2 gems = 742 gold = commission of 7 = 3.5 gold per gem, so a loss of 1.5 gold per gem.
A good example is wood in the market. People seem to think that selling wood for 186 or 185 is a profit....In actuality it ruins the market for people who actually want to make a profit.

Not all are selling for a profit; some just either bought too many in the first place, or received too many from hunts or other methods.
Yes but I just dont understand why you would want to sell something for less than its worth even if you have excess. It doesn't serve a purpose to sell something for less than its worth.

It depends pal. They can stack the wood they have collected from hunt and sell them in bundle. This way they earn profit.

However, if they buy wood from facilities at 183,184 or 185 and sell them them at 184 or 185 or 186, thinking they can earn 1g per wood. I probably would say they are a bit foolish. Tax is 1% of the selling price. Around 1 or 2 gold tax if they will to sell at that price.
Well, when they buy SoR, they do not intend to use it. They bought it so that they can sell it and make a small profit from sales.

Thats what I was talking about

I agree with this one. Furthermore, some just want cash flow so that they can use it to buy or even bet in the roulette.
Maybe they do it on purpose to discourage others from selling the same resource and then when the other sellers leave they increase their prices....... That is really giving them the benefit of the doubt
selling wood in market isnt really foolish

if i sell 1 wood at 186 after buying it at 183 then i would get 1 gold profit after commision for each wood

that isnt much but as they say little drops make the ocean
since the subject is "To all those who sell on market or to facilities..."... is selling to facilities also commissioned? i don't think so myself, but the subject got me confused and i can't remember for sure..
It is not commissioned, however I figured I would include it since there too you can lose money, depending on where you get your materials and where you sell them.
ah ok, thanks for answering.

#2 and #3 also count then, by the way, if a facility is out of resources..
selling them with a bit of loss can still give the advantage to enroll for 205/206/208 (*LG)

but yeah, paying attention to where the money goes and what you get in return is good advice for those new to the market-bizz...
