I've also watched Nodame Cantebile - it's about orchestral music, pretty cool.
Currently watching Death Note, very good so far.
Also, if I were you, I would stay far, far away from Naruto. Apologies to Naruto fans, but I find the series a bit too slow-paced, boring and lack of plot, not to mention repetitious scenes and dialogue. Not sure why it's so popular though. |
Some of them mentioned about fighting scene and comedy. But I ain't sure of it.
The reason why I choose Bleach over Naruto to watch first was because the drawing of naruto in the anime doesn't look too nice. |

| Yup. same as inuyasha. However, Bleach is pretty good balance between comedy an cool fighting scenes. I have suddenly remembered the recent "filler" episode of Bleach (New Year Edition) where the 2nd squad captain Sai Fon, fired her bankai bazooka to stop the rest from getting the new year game card that belongs to Yoruichi. Pretty funny. |

Someone complaining about Anime pacing.... There's seems to be a different school of thought with anime. The pacing is so much slower than other cultures storytelling.
DBZ, probably 2/3 of every episode is either needlessly overlong powering up, repetition of the previous episode, or other people commenting on how great it is with someone else saying "no, now we should be terrified", or how bad it is and someone saying "We still have hope".
Naruto is also a huge intro, and lots of repetition of the previous episode. Overlong combat scenes of minor characters is also a curse of the series. It has a decent overall storyline which you can forgive the other stuff though.
If only a lot of Anime looked at Avatar the last airbender for lessons in pacing and storyline. |
If you want cool fights + comedy + a really good story then go for One Piece.
Or, if you're looking for pure comedy go for Gintama :D
Yes, Avatar is a better than many anime and I'm quite looking forward to the new mini-series.
