Yes, i agree it is too much of a hassle to wait for a person to surrender by afk, or just lose. But it is altogether to easy to stage battles, after all, using this system :P

This would surely reduce the afk rate and the long wait in battles.

But a small suggesstion to this idea. When a person clicks the give up button, they will not get -2 luck but their troops will be controlled by AI. ANyway, they will not recieve any exp points even if they win.

also, if the battle is lets say only 5 minutes in, then you wont get good EXP anyway so its a no from me

If you wish to increase the combat speed (post 18),
go to your personal settings and you can change the troops movement to 'instant'.
Of course this only helps if everyone has the same setting, otherwise if one of them has normal, here's how it will go:
instant-instant-instant-instant-player's turn
n-o-r-m-a-l-n-o-r-m-a-l-n-o-r-m-a-l-n-o-r-m-a-l--player's turn
^That player with normal will still have to wait till everything moves, causing everyone to have to wait.

My suggestion would be a REDUCED amount of xp and fsp for the giveup player. Like 50%.
let's just say it's a group. Your teammate goes and you are left alone with 2 opponents or 3. -1
I'm not fond of the idea as it can and will be abused greatly. However, a give up button as suggested by Liongo at post #22 sounds great. Essentially, any person that feels too underwhelmed can use this button, forfeiting ANY and EVERY gain he would have from that fight but loosing arts and all health, just like going AFK but without the luck penalty, and pass the control of his character to the AI, thus giving his team, if not a chance at victory, at least a chance at a more respectable thus better rewarded loss. HOWEVER, other restrictions like ability to set the min ap for the combat must be implemented first to prevent that feature from being used lightly.

I might add though that this is an idea I've suggested many times before but seemed to have no effect whatsoever.

There is a small problem with this. Lets say: 6 guys agree to play 3v3, in min arts.

The battle stars, and one side gives up, immediately. The other side gets max xp/fsp. 15 minutes pass. They play a battle again, and now the other side gives it up.

So, in ~15 minutes, 6 players got full xp/fsp, while a normal gb would last more than an hour... :P

This needs some purification :P
agree with surrender button, but only appear when ambushed.

if we are ambushed, when we deploy our troops, the surrender button appear. we can choose to deploy our troops or surrender. if we deploy our troops, it mean we choose to fight, then we must fight till the end.

the effect after surrender can be discussed further, but surrender button in group battle is strictly forbidden. what do you think if you prepared for a group battle, and one of your team surrender in the beginning of the game ?

if you join a group battle, then you must ready for a long game. dont create/join group battle if you are not ready to finish it.
afk = -2 luck is not deterent enuf.

Change it to combat lvl x 100 gold (with maxcap 1000), money goes to empire.

If AI controles your troops you still loose. AI isnt smart enough to cover a loss of human IQ
