it works like Berserker spell almost.
your unit will attack the nearest stack. but if you kill the caster the spell effect vanishes and that's good :P |

But there's a important diff.
In berserker the unit attack the nearest unit..it can be even 1 recruit or any strong stack
But in Hypnosis,the creature attacks the nearest strong unit. |

in case of demon troups , they will not attack but they will prefer gate more troups :P

Hypnosis allows to take control of the targeted creature for a given amount of turns. Don't expect the AI to exploit such advantage.
Berserker turns the target crazy. It will attack (afaik it can't cast spells or use abilities) the closest unit it can reach, regardless if its friendly or foe. |
