However if your *other* opponents have been eliminated (or weren't there to begin with) you will eventually be forced to attack your friend unless you wish to risk penalty for a staged combat.

yup admins can consider it as staged battle but i am not sure
I doubt you'll get significant action from this.

Essentially your teammate was playing stupidly, but he was still fighting his enemy.

If everyone was required to play optimally all the time, then the Admins might as well penalise everyone, because nobody plays perfectly at all times.

It is possible the person assessing the report may choose to penalise the participants. That would probably only be because of the Battlechat evidence. I imagine they would be more likely to give them a warning.
