AuthorWrestlemania
My picks:
Cena embarrasses The Rock in Miami.
HBK gets involved and The Streak continues.
Punk will shut up the has-been Jericho.
The luck of the Irish is with Sheamus as he beats D. Bryan for the World Title.
Well going back to the roots of wrestling, as Flour pointed out, a circus act, there evolved a carny (people who worked at carnivals) jargon for wrestlers.

One of the words are kayfabe. Kayfabe is often seen as the suspension of disbelief that is used to create the non-wrestling aspects of promotions, such as feuds, angles, and gimmicks, in a similar manner with other forms of entertainment such as soap opera or film. In relative terms, a wrestler breaking kayfabe during a show would be likened to an actor breaking character on camera.

Basically what I'm getting at is its not always scripted. Just as some actors ab-lib some wrestlers break kayfabe. Here are some prime examples;

Booker T and Batista. Booker hated how disrespectful Batista was towards the locker room (not the literal locker room but "locker room" is a general representation of all the wrestlers be they popular or not) and they got into a genuine back-stage brawl. Real anger, real hate and real beef. (for those not familiar with 'beef' as a slang term, it is another word for animosity)

Chris Jericho and Goldberg. Another back-stage brawl that this time was on camera but was a legitimate assault of Chris beating the crap out of Goldberg. Again, Goldberg came in arrogant and disrespectful of the locker room and he said the wrong thing to Chris, thus him laying on his arse beaten stupid.

There are many, many other examples but I'll almost end with the most famous one, Shawn Michaels vs Bret Heart, a.k.a. the montreal screwjob as it is infamously known. I won't get into the details on this one, so for those of you who want to know more, youtube and wikipedia my friends.
ok, maybe those first three examples would better explain "shoots". When it goes from scripted to real.

An awesome example of kayfabe is CM Punk before he left WWE with the championship belt. He was calling all the wrestlers by their real names, telling real reasons of why people were fired, he was breaking kayfabe so badly that on 3 seperate occasions on three different shows when he started up they cut off his mic!

That was not a work, that was a shoot. A work is when they try to make it feel like its a shoot but is not (more carny talk)

Also one of THE biggest political bullies in the industry of wrestling is Triple H. If he in real life does not like someone, he and his buddies will pick on them, prank, haze, physically and mentally abuse a wrestler and whatever else it takes in "real" life to get them to quit or break the script and not lose a match among various other things.

Three others also fit this profile, JBL (John Bradshaw Layfield), Undertaker and Hulk Hogan. Along with any members of the WWE group daftly named 'the clique'.
*daftly, I meant adeptly
geez I really need to re-read my stuff, hehe

or break the script and not lose a match among various other things.by that I mean that if a member of 'the clique' was scheduled to lose to that person they didn't like, they wouldn't. Also instead of pulling their punches they would hit that person as hard as they possibly could.

Perfect example of a shoot and kayfabe is Matt Hardy vs Edge. In real life Matt was dating Lita, then Edge who was a good friend to the Hardy's and Lita made his move on Lita. She broke up with Matt while he was at home recovering from an injury, again all real life stuff, and started dating Edge. If you watch one of their matches since that happened you will see nothing but potatoes being thrown.

The term potatoes is when two wrestlers go at it full force and not holding back on there moves, punches, kicks, etc, etc. Real punches, real blood.
Team Long

Zack Ryder is going to try and get on the team next Monday on Raw.

THE ROCK V.S. JOHN CENA

This is everything current for heading to Wrestlemania...

Also this will divided into sections...

Matches announced, however order is still not official, along with story backround;

Unofficially The Rock vs John Cena will be the main event.

The Rock has finally gotten back with WWE. 7 years ago they let his contract expire and failed to renew it. He took it personally thus why he started telling reporters he was no longer 'the rock' but just Dwayne Johnson. He stopped doing WWE movies and signed on with other movie labels. Now he and Vince have worked out their differences, however he is still not doing any WWE movie projects as of yet.

Upon his return at the last Wrestlemania he and Cena had instant heat, claiming Cena had been talking smack while he was gone, which Cena confirmed face to face. After a promo in which the Rock vowed never to be leave the WWE Universe again a few weeks later he challenged Cena to a match at the next Wrestlemania. (WWE Universe is what they now call WWE fans) and then Rock didn't appear at another WWE event for over 6 months give or take a month. Cena took offense to that.

Basically Cena says he is there everyday and Rock lied about never leaving because he had been gone for months after his announcement. Yet the fans still love Rock and hate Cena even though Cena is a baby face (good guy). The Rock is a face (short for baby face) too but people in real life have grown tired of John Cena.

They recently picked up the pace on their bickering as Wrestlemania is almost upon us. I'm sure you can youtube their war of the words. Last week was a rock vs rap competition between them in which Cena rapped in the first segment of the show and Rock sang in the last segment.

Well that was as short and concise as I could make that considering there was almost a whole years worth of promoting this match and my long winded writing nature.

More to come later, kinda tired now as its passed 6am and I still haven't gone to sleep
here is an unofficial update on the teams being assembled by Theodore Long and John Lauranitus for their respective teams. Whoever team wins the team creator will run both Raw and Smackdown.

some of the names rumored for the teams included Santino Marella, Mark Henry, Alberto Del Rio, Rey Mysterio and Christian. PWInsider reports that the current plan is to have David Otunga, Mark Henry, Alberto Del Rio, Christian, Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger face Santino Marella, The Great Khali, Ezekiel Jackson, R-Truth, Kofi Kingston and another name to be announced, which may be either Rey Mysterio or Evan Bourne, who is cleared to return from his suspension this weekend.

Thx for all the info lucid:)
Your very welcome ishan. Ok, been busy with my kids this week but they are at the park now so here is another backround story for this match which is rumored to be 3rd from last;

UNDERTAKER VS TRIPLE H

Since Undertakers debut into the then WWF (now WWE) back in 1990 he has been in 19 Wrestlemania's and has not been defeated in any of them. Many say that if one can defeat him at Wrestlemania it would be more prestigious than winning any of the major WWE belts.

Shawn Michaels tried a few years ago in two back to back Wrestlemania's but failed both times. After the last time he was so battered he re-re-retired :P. I'll get to the relevance of this in a bit.

Last year Triple H went against the dead man and almost pulled it off, almost. Even though he failed HHH walked out of the ring by himself while Taker had to be helped up and out of the ring. For the first time "the phenom" looked...human.

Neither one showed up again for many months. When Hunter finally did reappear he came to relieve Vince Mc'mahon of his active duties of running WWE programs only to announce himself as his replacement. For those who don't know, in real life Hunter married Vince's daughter Stephanie Mc'mahon obviously making Hunter (by the way the 3 H's in Triple H is Hunter Hearst Helmsley, however his real name is Paul Michael Levesque)Vince's son-in-law. A month or so later Hunter was relieved of his duties by John Lauranitus.

10 months after Wrestlemania Undertaker re-emerged to challenge Triple H. The dead man could not stand how last year's Mania ended. Though he won he felt he lost. As Hunter stated it, "I may have lost the battle but I won the war. I walked out the ring, Taker, you were carried!"

Initially Triple H refused saying that he knew he could beat Taker but he chose not to because one day he will own all of WWE and he recognized the Undertaker as a brand, something to make money and that ending the Undertaker would be "bad for business".

It wasn't until Taker told Triple H, Shawn was better, that Hunter became angry and accepted on one condition, that the match be Hell in a Cell.

It was later revealed to both by Shawn Michaels that Shawn would be the 'special' referee for the match. Michaels said to Taker,"Isn't it ironic that it was you, Taker, who ended my career...and that now...I can end yours by ending your streak at Wrestlemania!"
they recently announced a diva's match which really isn't worth mentioning but for those who like women's wrestling, stick to TNA, aka IMPACT Wrestling.
Wrestlemania 2012 : Special Matches

John Cena vs. The Rock

The Undertaker vs. Triple H (Hell in a Cell Match with special referee Shawn Michaels)

Team Teddy vs. Team Johnny

WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho

World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus

Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show

Randy Orton vs. Kane

Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos vs. Divas Champion Beth Phoenix and Eve
There really isn't anything exciting to report other than that the teams for Team Teddy and Team Johnny are near done officially.

I don't remember off the top of my head all the official members of each team right now. So if someone doesn't post it eventually I will do it sometime tomorrow.

Other than that I probably won't post too much until the live event and will post the results here for those interested to see.

Maybe even start a little contest for bragging rights for all of us to guess who we think will win in the matches.

So Friday after I watch Smackdown I will post all of the matches just in case others are added and whoever is interested can comment on who they think will win that match. Whoever gets the most right will be the 'bragging rights wwe champion'!

For those interested voting will start from now, as elferds has printed a current list of all matches, until the start time of Wrestlemania.

I have a new job now but if I have time I will try to post more back round match stories.
My predictions/vote:
John Cena vs. The Rock-the rock
The Undertaker vs. Triple H (Hell in a Cell Match with special referee Shawn Michaels)-undertaker
Team Teddy vs. Team Johnny-team johnny
WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho-Chris jericho
World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus-Sheamus
Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show-Big show
Randy Orton vs. Kane-Kane
#56

John Cena vs. The Rock-the rock
The Undertaker vs. Triple H (Hell in a Cell Match with special referee Shawn Michaels)-undertaker

Here is what I believe is the final list for inductees to the WWE Hall of Fame this year.

Bill Masters, the Four Horse Men, Ron 'Faruk' Simmons, Mike Tyson (in the celebrity hall), Yokozuna and Edge.

Something I didn't know until recently is Yokozuna was related to Rikishi, another former WWE star, and the Uso's. The Uso's are Rikishi's twin sons who now wrestle as a tag team in the WWE.

Now for the unfortunate news for those of you who were Yoko fans. Apparently he died 12 years ago from a heart attack at the age of 34. He had ballooned up to 804 lbs. He had lost some weight but was not enough thus his unfortunate death.

For anyone who hasn't watched wrestling in the last year or longer here is the story on Edge. I believe it was last year on April 11th that he announced he had re-injured his neck was never going to be cleared for wrestling again as he could potentially become paralyzed. He, at the time, was the WWE champion, so was forced to retire and leave the title vacant.
