AuthorRaising a single faction or all?
Title says it all..
which is better raising a single faction with an enormous fsl or having building fsl in all factions

i`m trying to get fsl 8 in both DE and elf before changing into other factions and i`m focusing on ambushes ..but the fsp\exp ratio sucks i got nearly 150-200 fsp for 1 mil exp

on the other hand some of my level`s CG players have 9 fsl in a single main faction and since my fsl isn`t high enough to ensure a win on CG i`m not doing any..that and i`m also bankrupt :)

besides alot are trying about raising fsl in all factions before the merge and how all .com players will become the the underdogs...i`m really not feeling so powerful raising two factions instead of one

so that`s about it..would love to hear your views ^^
I am of the view that a faction is a life style and not a coat you put it on in the morning and take it off at night. And change it next day...

In my opinion, faction shouldn't be possible to change... at all!

I have hard to fathom how a goblin can transform itself in a gremlin, and vice-versa as easy saying 'hocup-pocus'...

But that is only me, and I know it.
for naviron:
there`s a point if i`d go on that then i`d become a mage and in LWM they aren`t ideal and in my opinion wouldn`t even be worth trying before level 14 with summoning and fire walls...but elves can do that too

and even if i wanted i`m already heads deep in and can`t just quit focus playing on a single faction

i were an elf playing against a dark elf i`d have a great chance having 21% faction resist same if i were a DE against an elf....but playing against a fsl 9 mage that`d be just suicide...both styles have ups and downs and anyone can make each either too good or too bad
just want your view about this ^^
i think get one really high then nce its like as high as it can switch to another and try to fight the one u have high fsl and build up in as many as possible to get reisits
raising a single faction, whic is good for knight, necro, wiz and Dwarf.but in high lvl if you want to do some CG,TG and GB then faction you need some faction resist too.faction resist will help PvP against other factions.
But PvP against your own faction, your fsl will decide who wins(TG bones can be change little bit:P)
Example: elf with fsl 8 can't win fsl 9 elf,coz high fsl elf shoot first:P
Best to get all factions to fl5 and then just pick one to play the rest of the game
for Mohini:
i`m a fan of initiative over attack power..knights a rather dull for me to start now but love the tanky part with holy build..wizard as i`ve stated before have an entirely different concept from the one i`d prefer and the only thing i`d consider about the is nature magic which both elves and necro have.i`ve tried necro and got owned with them but there are many ways of playing them and i really like them..i don`t understand barbarian all of the battles i`ve seen it`s always fully charged attack and i just don`t feel like doing them..demon are cool too wanted to try demon instead of DE first but those shrews got me hanging..dwarves are cool too, love holy or chaos build and can fit perfectly to them and for steppe barbarian well anything i cool the first time you see it with a level 17 using them + enchanted set love their shooters but easily killed

now that was waaay off-topic XD

but really guys give me your opinions about this..it isn`t a question of what should i pick but just want to know your opinion ^^
Gonna move this to GGF there it is better to discus this :)

For me it is build up al.
But that is only because i like to play all factions :)
Topic moved from "Queries and help" to "General game forum".
I think it is good to have 1 main faction, which faction lvl would be similar to other players from same CL. With other factions you could play only easy hunts and quests to raise the lvl for damage resistance. The amount of playing other factions should not make your main faction level to stay behind other players.

The problem with this way is that it requires to change factions many times during the game (every few CLs) and costs lots of gold to build all castles.

I have chosen not to have main faction until I have tried them all until faction lvl 5 and then I will pick the one I like the most, raise the lvl to meet with other players and tehn start more PvPs.
Depending on what you seek I would say make one faction your main and focus on it and If your faction level is equal or higher then the average player of your level you can build up some faction resist. You just have to keep in mind that the combined ratio of fsp on all other faction shouldn't exceed ~20% of your main faction fsp.

This kind of development will make you very competitive in PvP as faction resist is valuable there, but main faction is more important (stat bonuses + ini bonus).
for Ranor:
i`m going for level 8 fsl in both of my mains so the 24% is more than enough i`d say it is really expensive..mostly i can offord both might and magic set at the very end of my level and after leveling up i`d sell both for the castle buildings on both factions and it isn`t that wise :D

but it`s fun so i wouldn`t stop for real but is`s not awarding in PvP so far. lets say i`m a an elf fsl 8 playing against a wizard fsl 9..i wouldn`t have much of a chance.but if i had a fsl 8 on both wizards and elf..then my chances would have been much much better ...i`m sticking into playing both factions because even if i`d play a single faction i wouldn`t have reached a high fsl as other`s would

and here is a sample of why i`d prefre playing two factions instead of one
and this is really help ful against ambushes..with my fsl in DE ambushes against an AI DE are much easier it takes the hero 4 turns of targeting my split GMB before turning into EFK which gives me the chance to retreat and charge freely..and i can`t do that agaisnt wizard AI ambushes since i wouldn`t have much time before wiz would target my EFK so i`d charge all at once
the same when ambushing as a DE against an elf my shrews can stan about two rounds of those little stacks of shooters and giving me time to to use assaliant`s ability with those few stacks of shrews i have left.

so even little things can make the difference..and planning on doing the same on other factions..though it`ll take time

in my level or lower building fsl on all faction isn`t that rewarding as if it was on higher levels and it would have been easier then

and i just want others to share their views about this..i`m not asking about who`s better or anything..just why are you playing a multi faction build or a single faction one??..that`s all :D
I like to play in all factions, you get a nice resistance and (for me) more fun. I'll make 20% of resist with 6 factions (necro, knight, wizard, demon, elf and DE), which are the ones I feel I need resist. Against barb, I think is not so good, barb have massive damage, and I don't see too many playing GBs or CGs. Dwarf I don't know yet if I will need resistance, so, I'll wait before I make this decision.

But, I feel that it can make me weak in low levels, I will have less total Fsp in 1 faction than others. And, I'll need a lot of gold just for the castles, so, more time to waste enrolling. However, in the long run, this Fsp can make the difference in battles, and, anyway, it is already good to change of faction and know what are they weakness =)
which is better raising a single faction with an enormous fsl or having building fsl in all factions

Depends on how long you intend to play the game. If you want to play to the point where you'd be FSL 11 or 12 (which may take ages), then building resistance levels on all factions would be best. It takes 630 FSP to raise 7 factions to level 3. That is a very small fraction compared to the FSP gap between FSL 10 and 11 (4300 FSP). If you're just a casual player, just stick to the factions you want to play.

I'll make 20% of resist with 6 factions (necro, knight, wizard, demon, elf and DE), which are the ones I feel I need resist.

You'll need 7 FSL to get 21% resistance. That would cost you 5400 FSP for 6 factions or enough to raise 1 faction to level 10. Good luck! XD
@abdullah
Well obviously the time for you to heed these advices is past ;-) but anyone should play as is most satisfying for him. I myself didn't followed this rule as I have about 30% faction points in other factions. For instance if I had stopped playing DE at lvl 5 I would nearly be lvl 10 in my main.

The advice above is just something that I gleened from my PvP experience. And it sumes up to

1: Faction resist is nice to have and can make the difference
2: If your main faction is lower than that of your foes, then this is a serious disadvantage (more important than faction resist if we don't go to extreme values). Of course if you can achieve a higher lvl in your main than your opponents this will be a big advantage for you (more pronounced for Knight and Necromancer compared to other factions)
3. And of course tactics and communications are more vital than anything else :-)
this is really help ful against ambushes.

Since you mentioned this, I have something that may help you here. I have been keeping track of my caravans ever since I resumed ambushing as a Dwarf. Here:

KNI-XXXXXXXXXXXX
NEC-OXXXOXXXOXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXO
WIZ-OXXOXXOOXXOXOXXXXOXXXXOXXOXXOXOXOXX
ELF-XXXXXOOOXOOOXXXXOX
BAR-XXXXXXOXXXXXXXXXX
DAR-XXXXXXOOOXOXXOOOXXOOXXXXOXOOXXOOOOOO
DEM-XXXXOXXXOXOXOXOXXOOXXXOXOO

X: I lost.
O: I won.

I'm not sure what everyone else's stats are for caravan probability but assuming that everyone has the same probability as I do then it would seem resistance levels on Wizards and Dark elves would be most useful if you want to be a career thief. Knight caravans are very rare for me and Dwarf caravans are nonexistent.
for Grusharaburas:
i do find knights caravan the hardest to kill but i don`t mind losing since the fsp is always 0.3 + so it`s not a total loss

and for ambushes it isn`t only fsl that has a role..some factions a naturally better than others at some point
thieving as a DE is way more powerful than an elf if the caravan has one of those high tier stacks..shrews and liz can really shine in those spots..while necro caravan with masses and masses of zombies and skeletons EFK would take them down in an instant..but not that much of an advantage over DE...

and tbh i would really want to build my character like yours..5+fsl on all factions thought i`m trying to make them 8 so...it`ll take some time

for Ranor:
i didn`t do much PvP before `cuz i didn`t have much time to spare so i never thought abut working on my problem .now that i do,it`s not that i spend much time on LWM anyway now but i`m considering some PvP right now so i`m just trying to enroll as much a battle each 10 enrolls and probably get enough money and time to work things out

hopefully after the merge many new combats are introduced so wouldn`t have to depend on thieving much which will have a better exp\fsp ratio so waiting is all i`m doing

and i`m not sure but i`m going way off topic..all i wanted from creating this topic for players to share their opinion on playing style with faction..not a way to resolve my problem which is in fact not really a problem just a weird pointless way of having fun ^^ thx anywayz
i do find knights caravan the hardest to kill but i don`t mind losing since the fsp is always 0.3 + so it`s not a total loss

Okay. Ignore the win or lose part. What I tried to show was that I encountered way more Wizards and Dark elves when I was thieving and very few Knights and zero Dwarf caravans (tally does not include human players ambushed). Faction resistance bonus applies to thief ambushes against AI caravans.

Therefore, based on my data, Dwarf levels are useless for thieves (there are no Dwarf caravans to resist) and Wizard and Dark elf resistance are more useful than Knights, Barbarians, or Elves.

hopefully after the merge many new combats are introduced so wouldn`t have to depend on thieving much which will have a better exp\fsp ratio so waiting is all i`m doing

Since you mentioned this, do you know that in .ru, they have a potion that will allow you to lower the faction level gap? Say I am an FSL 6 Demon and I drink that potion and I fight against an FSL 12 Wizard, I will automatically become an FSL 11 Demon during the fight. At least that's how I understand it. I don't have a .ru account so I cannot tell for sure but this may help you decide on your path...
for Grusharaburas:
wel resistance so far on mage caravan are way far way better than for than melee one

as for as dwarves well at some point there will be a dwarf caravan so not entirely useless don`t you think ??

and that potion is really important when you have a 0 fsl which is perfect for me since i don`t have to keep waiting till i get at some decent fsl and then do PvP

anyway this topic is going way off than i`ve intended it to be so i`m closing...thx alot anyway^^
