AuthorNewbie elf seeking strategy
I'm new to the game, I have read the "About the game" section in-game however I can't seem to put a lock on a good strategy to use in PVP combat. I do ok in hunts but the battles always end up in me losing. Any suggestions?
Use this:

you can find lots of data here and you can also ask anything and get good responses. Welcome to the game.
I checked that topic out but I can only find high level tips and I also cannot post any messages since I am only combat level 1. Thanks anyway though.
At low levels, first hand experience is the best way to learn. There isn't a lot of different strategies for a level 1/2 elf. If anything, you should avoid PvP as much as possible until level 3. If you insist on doing PvP, remember how fast your creatures are, use that to your advantage. Maybe split your Forest Keepers into a 12-1-1 formation (for retaliation), then split your faeries as much as possible for more damage.
Also, there's no shortage of level 1 PvP battles featuring elves. Take a look at some of their battles as well, and see what they did.
Thanks a lot, I'll try these tips out right away.
you might wanna spend some time watching some of these battles:

some record-winning strategies there ;)
Any suggestions?

Suggestions in general are hard to be given. Though, I can tell you the wrongs you could have avoided in the battles you have fought. Take this example :

Splitting troops is very important. Pre-battle settlement in general, is one of the most important things in a PvP combat. Usually a good splitting strategy is having one or two weak stack (for example 1 forest keeper and 9 forest keepers) to take retaliation strike for you and then the strong stack will hit freely. Why is that ? Unless the enemy has "Unlimited retaliation" special ability, he can retaliate an attack ONLY ONCE per turn, so you "waste" his damage by hitting him with 1 forest keeper (while he could have damaged more than 1 if you hit with the main). In the above battle, your opponent went with a different split strategy, he used many stacks of faeries to prevent you from reaching him first which gave him the advantage.

In addition, taking the first hit against your enemy in low levels is very important, it usually defines the winner.

In this one : https://www.lordswm.com/war.php?warid=505350446&lt=-1 I don't have much to say ... you did well with the splits to block the gremlins, but you made one small mistake, you went straight in gremlins' range, so they hit you with full damage. Shooters have 6 tiles range (unless they have No range Penalty special ability). Your forest Keeper has 6 speed, though, he can attack diagonally. For example if I were you, I would move the forest keepers like this :

O O O O O g G
F O O O O O O

g = gargoyles
G = gremlins
F = Foresk Keepers
O = Empty tile

Put some imagination and think of it, your forest keeper can reach the gremlins and the gargoyles and eventhough the gremlins can shoot you, they will deal only half damage, because you are out of their range. In any case, I think a wizard is an impossible enemy for you at this level (there are some factions that are stronger against other in certain levels).

Same mistake was done here : https://www.lordswm.com/war.php?lt=-1&warid=37357211

Don't get disappointed, try to play against other factions (other than wizard) and try different opponents if you want to test your performance. Experience comes through losses, noone learned something new by not failing, even geniuses.

PS: Watch what I can write when I'm bored lol.
I'm practicing a 12-1-1 forest keepers and 2-1-1-1 faeries split tactic right now. Hope this one works out for me. Thanks for all the replies.
Good try, but you still let him have the first attack.

Practice more on preventing the enemy from attacking first. Use faeries to block his way, or wait back until he comes etc.
first hit

And by that I mean the first hit against his strong stack. If you manage to hit first the strong stack and apply the take-retaliation strategy at the same time, then you have the best possible outcome.
