The new Empire had not suffered an invasion of swarms controlled by a power nemesis as the Lordship's lost homeland was; nonetheless, a competition of survival was still known and greatly anticipated here as well. Even in normal time, the Arena was a common and favourite topic for conversations in many castles, households and taverns; so no wonder that when the date of such a memorable event was nearing, the entire Empire was talking about the 100th anniversary Survival Tournament.
Some were conservative and peevish, but many more had supposed that this time, the Survival Tournament wouldn't pass without great and even some sort of pompousness. Rumours were spread, wildest suggestions were shared and carried from mouth to mouth, but no one could tell for sure what kind of innovations were to expect - the scroll with orders for new Empire was kept so secret that not even the sleightful hands of the Thieves' Guild could reach it to copy its contents and make any sort of profit from that.
Only when the date of the tournament arrived, the Arena keepers unsealed the scroll and proclaimed the changes to general public and to the arena contestants alike:

Today is the start of the anniversary 100th Survival Tournament, an event that for over 4 years has been a tradition in our new Empire. On this occasion, the Empire has prepared several new fascinating innovations to the tournament.
The following features will be available in this anniversary Tournament:

Features below will be innovated in all Survival Tournaments beginning from today:
- Orbs of Illusions with improved effect;
- Orbs of Illusions appearing on every turn;
- New creatures added to waves;
- Different system of creature waves, tougher than before.

Waves of creatures arrive on each turn, with every wave being harder than the previous one; the lords compete at who lasts longer and kills the most arena creatures among all participants.
