AuthorWhy repair?
Since the update it doesn't make sense for me to repair or have someone repair my shop artifacts when the repair cost is more than the actual cost of the item. Even if you don't get a return fund from the Empire, it seems more cost effective to continue buying new shop arts. This update seems to make a lot of smithing obsolete. Am I missing something here?
Only some arts have repair cost more than actual cost.

Repair is an art, not a business. It was never intended to get you money, it was meant more like a status symbol. Only to prolong the durability of enchanted an rare arts.

You always save money by the rates offered by budding smiths so, yes repair is profitable mostly for the customer.

This is true.

Repairing was created to extend the durability of artifacts. It would allow, after a certain experience level (70%), to actually profit from repairing your items. This MADE smithing economically efficient. However, now due to the update, most shop artifacts are close or higher in price to repair than the original 65% of actual shop cost. As a result, this makes most shop artifacts not worth repairing. If you consider repairing at this rate, you will achieve paying a higher price for the item with a lower durability. That is neither good art or business and would be a poor representation of a worthy "status symbol". Repairing, now, mostly holds value for hunter, rare, and enchanted artifacts. You would only be profitable by having someone else repair the item for you if it is one of the previous mentioned.

In conclusion:

1. Discard your shop artifacts. There is no reason to repair them for at a higher cost to durability ratio.

2. Repairing is not an art, it is a business.

3. Play smarter not harder :)
