Author | initiative versus other parameters |
I would like to hear some thoughts on the choice between initiative and other parameters when choosing your equipment. When playing ST at earlier DE levels I thought like this: "since my attacking unit (shrews) is not supposed to be hit, I'd rather choose soldier boots (2 def, 3 ini) than light mithril boots (3 def, 2 ini + magic shield), but choosing gear for pvp combats is much trickier. For example, the choice between ring of thorns or signet ring of might is very interesting.
Any thoughts out there? |
If you want good ini, you could get high thief?
I myself I always use rings of thorn, 2 def and 2 attack..
I don't need extra ini, I count on my thief stats and FL to be enough ;). |
against AI it is better to have slightly lower ini. They ll move full speed forwards, and you can chop them off easily :P |
In ST you need attack and def parameters, as the waves don't last to long.
In PvE you need initiative only in long battles, were your troops will get the chance to move twice in 1 turn.
In PvP it's a matter of your play stile and opponent. If you face a mag you'll need Initiative to outrun their gargoyles or hit their troops twice in 1 turn. This also goes if you face another might DE and you will want your shrews to hit first. |
This is a complicated question to answer, it really depends entirely on situation.
In PvP it means a lot for some faction and less for others.
The faction who has ini-race situation it means a lot. That is especially true for same faction duels.
DE vs DE
Elf vs Elf
Barb vs Barb
Necro vs Necro
All of these are often determined by the ini-race. As first hit with shrews, GMB, Orcs and skel bows, will give such a huge advanges that you cna often play it safe from there and win the game.
For chaos build it means a lot less, defence is more important.
For two holy knights fighting each other it don't mean much either since they can cast evasion before x-bow/wardens get turn.
In ST you need attack and def parameters, as the waves don't last to long.
I disagree, ini and attack is more important than defence as you want to avoid being hit at all.
In PvE you need initiative only in long battles, were your troops will get the chance to move twice in 1 turn.
Again there is no clear answer. For chaos ini don't matter as much.
For holy knight I actually want my hero to come before my x-bow as fervor knight I want hero to come after x-bow.
In the end there is no clear answer.
Best thing I can suggest is to look at faction bonus and holy/dark spells. Elf vs others. It iwill indicate that 3% ini has around same worth as a stat point. Or 3 * 12 attack (chast) = 36% almost the same as 40% rapid |
Wearing two Rings of thorn will be fine for this Survilurgs Event ? |
In ST you need attack and def parameters, as the waves don't last to long.
def parameter is useless in ST, you want to kill them quick rather than take damage. it is more significant on those factions rely on no retal unit.
In PvE you need initiative only in long battles, were your troops will get the chance to move twice in 1 turn.
refer to answer above :)
In PvP it's a matter of your play stile and opponent.
that's right. initiative will be key if both were same or fast faction. imagine knight vs elf, i failed to see initiative will help knight greatly |
Also note that there is a 10% ini can apply on any stack randomly during the 1st turn.
i.e. If 2 creaturs has same ini then one of them may get there turn faster then other due to this randon ini.
Correct me if i'm wrong.
For the facility defence it depends on your faction and enemy faction as stated in the above answers. |
against AI it is better to have slightly lower ini. They ll move full speed forwards, and you can chop them off easily :P |
in quick tourney it is good to have low ini :)
except when you can reach opponent in first turn, then high ini is better :) |
