Yes it is good but no need to worry about it from now.
Just enroll as much as you can and buy a thief invitation before level 6. |

It really depends on what are your priorities.
If your goal is to get into Thieves Guild as early as possible using gold, then avoid tournaments [Especially QTs] and PvPs [unless they are min AP ones] etc, as they are very costly. Fight in min AP [or no arts if you are below level 5] as much as possible.
If entering TG is not important to you [it should] or gold is not a concern [it really should], then you can play tournaments and pvp during lvl3
As a general rule for characters just starting out, you should level up in guilds [HG, LG, MG etc] that gives you leveling up bonuses and strengthens your character and avoid doing battles [PvPs, quick tournaments etc] that don't directly makes your character stronger.
You can always do PvPs, quick tournaments etc, when you are higher levels and have a stronger character. :) |
So on low levels the main activity should be PVE only?

it all depends on what you want, if you want to win more at later levels, its best to do PVE only, if your only playing for fun, and it doesnt matter to you wether you win or lose. than do watever you want.
me im very competative, so i hate losing, hence i built up my profile by doing PVE :) |

Hobs are better , in future you ca use them for survilurg or events too. Get basic offense+battle fury at level 6 if you wanna use hobs :) |
