How does this passive ability actually work?
My hell horses were succesful in moving the sentries much before their first turn...

Think of it like this.
Fear attack causes the target to flee due to psychological fear. In the sense, the target is moving "on their own" as in, using their own legs to move away.
Hold Ground works against effects that force their target back by outright attacking them and pushing them (Knockback, etc). |

Yes it is. But the "hold ground" passive ability of the sentries has no effect on the fear trigger.

Yes and it reduces damage. Fighting sentries with usary is frustrating for this reason. :) |

Reduction of damage is from veterans fortification...
