The first rays of sun rising at the horizon in Portal Ruins lit clubs of dense heavy smoke rising from the debris of a once formidable fortification - yet another ruins have been added to the distressful landscape.
The ruined castle belonged to a mediocre military clan which, once having boasted control over a strategic facility, had lost it a while ago. Shortly after, a stronger neighbouring military clan claimed control over that facility.
It became known by noon that the clan's members, nursing a grievance against the stronger clan, invited the Survilurgs to their tampering lair in an attempt to ally with them in an attack at the other clan's castle, not facility. Convinced in the power of coin, their minds clouded with envy and hatred, the clan warriors neglected all kind of prudence, which had its grim price...
The Survilurgs massacred the entire clan population and razed its castle to the ground. Among many spoils, they took the clan's field book, as well as the formation manual, curricular documents on the essentials of Empire military art distributed to all military clans by the Empire Warlord.
As a result, the Survilurg armies have significantly changed; they are now much closer in formation to those of the Empire vanguards, featuring new classes and specializations within each faction.
Military clans all over the Empire felt concerned about this event. Among all things, the clans value their reputation and glory the most. From now on, anytime a Survilurg challenge would be intercepted but the attacking clan would fail to fill it during the onslaught phase, that clan would get a penalty of as much BG as many heroes failed to join the challenge, up to 3 BG for an empty challenge. |
