Author | How to calculate the damage of fiends? |
In one of my recent CG battle, I got the following damages from fiends. Both damages are higher than the theoretical maximum. Please correct me if my calculation is wrong.
The first leap:
Fiends deal 754 damage to Sphynx warriors. 5 perish.
At that moment, 137 fiends have 47A and my sphynx warriors have 62D.
The max basic damage with 8-tile leaping is
137*4/(1+(62-47)*.05)*1.8=567.
Concerning the 9% extra melee damage and my resistance of demon5, the max should be
137*4/(1+(62-47)*.05)*1.8*1.09*.85=523.
How come the 754???
The second leap:
Fiends deal 1443 damage to Enchanted gargoyles. 55 perish.
At that moment, 99 fiends have 57A and my gargoyles have 43D. Similar calculation gives
99*4*(1+(57-43)*.05)*1.8*1.09*.85 = 1122.696
How come the 1443???

a small correction: 134 fiends in the first leap. The max is
134*4/(1+(62-47)*.05)*1.8*1.09*.85 = 510
even worse.... |
hey, i am not good in MATH. but
fields ability:
Leap:
α Activated special ability.
This creature can attack any hostile creature within the interval [2; 2*Speed] tiles, ignoring obstacles, dealing 10% extra damage per tile leapt this way. If the target retaliates, it will deal 200% retaliation damage.
i think you missed this. |
1.8
Leap 8 tiles, so damage increase 1.8 (that mean he didn't miss that)
Even if it leap 1.1^8 , still damage is a little much.
I also wondering it |
Also fiend attack is 46 only he even calculate it with 47 |
did you concider the `rage abillity`? |
Calculation seems right
Even if you ignore the 5 fsl which you have , still it shows 1330 dmg.. while it did 1443.. strange ¬.¬ |
I just found that the retaliation damage to fiends is not calculated as described. Sometimes the retaliation damage is lower than 200%. For example, in the following battle
https://www.lordswm.com/war.php?warid=603572024<=-1
After fiends' first leap, 5 sphynx warriors with 55A retaliated the fiends with 48D. The minimum damage is
5*23*(1+(55-48)*.05)*.98*2 = 304.
HOWEVER, the actual damage was:
Sphynx warriors deal 292 damage to Fiends. 20 perish.
Fiends FTW! |
Ahahahah, here it is :
Leap deals +20% damage per tile covered it seems (bug or spell typo)
First leap :
(137*4*(1-3*5/100)/(1 + 0.05*(62-47)))*2.6*1.09 = 754.329828571 |
And as for the retaliate it seems no bug
Min damage =
(5 * 23 * (1 + 0.05 (55-48) ) * (1 - 3*0/100)*200/100)*(1-0.118)
(1-0.118) because he has basic defense + 2% melee resistance |
forgot to add, your min damage on retaliation = 273.861
PS: the number 200/100 is written on purpose trivial |
Thanks, Lord Hallion91. I forgot to consider the basic defense.
As for your guess of 20% per tile, I did try it and found the 754 exactly matching the maximum. However, I later found another example where the actual damage exceeded the theoretical maximum even with 20%. If interested, you may try to calculate the first leap in the following battle
https://www.lordswm.com/war.php?warid=604364936<=-1 |
True that one deals more even if it's 20% per tile.
(118*4*(1-3*5/100)/(1 + 0.05*(47-45)))*2.6*1.09 = 1033.63709091
instead of 1046 that fiends dealt.
You did have racial 5 on demon at that time, right ? |
https://www.lordswm.com/war.php?lt=-1&warid=604914628
bottom stack, 135 fiends;
minimum damage = 135*1*1/(1+0.05*(27-4))*1.8 = 113
Fiends deal 109 damage to Berserkers. 4 perish.
their damage is below min damage ...
so something is really off with leaping fiends :P |
You did have racial 5 on demon at that time, right ?
Yes, I did all these battles after I had got demon 5. |
