Hi all!

What I propose shall be quite clear from the title. Ofcourse I shall expand on it but a bit later...

What do you think happens if you wear a full steel armor, steel boots etc? You will ofcourse find your equipment very heavy? You will become slow and get tired won't you?

This is what i propose. Just because of simple logic, I feel that some arts shall give the disadvantage of losing speed and initiative of your troops! Not much, Each art can give something like -0.1 speed or sometimes more depending on how heavy the art is (Which the admins will have to take time to assess and add). For eg:- https://www.lordswm.com/art_info.php?id=mage_armor might not make your troops slower in speed where as https://www.lordswm.com/art_info.php?id=miff_plate will make your troops lets say -0.2 slower in speed.
The final speed decrease gets rounded off to the nearest number thus removing the decimal place.

Advantages:-
1. Magic build gets more priority in higher levels as magic ars are usually robes and staffs which are lighter than the might swords and armors. Right now might build prevails in high levels.
2. Arts meant for defense are usually heavier and we all know how strong defensive builds can be... It is just to give them some disadvantage.
3. It will add a whole new dimension to arts and make it more interesting.
4. Admins can introduce special diamond arts which give a lot of defense without speed decrease and this shall also bring them money.
5. We can introduce a "Remove Speed Decrease" option which enchanters of a certain high level can perform using gold to partially or completely remove the decrease.

There can be tons of more advantages which I can't think of.

I don't know, just my feeling says that something like this must exist!

Why?
Mage dont care about speed.

That defense armor can be with magic power what gave speed to stacks to...
advantage to magic then

are you proposing that we should kill dark elves only positive thing ?
err, completely unavailing..but just for ur sake, anything like this will twist the game unbalanced...just imagine a DE losing speed, fare him against a wiz now...

It might be too late to implement this in this concept/combat perspective of this RPG, maybe next time
not like i havent seen games where equipment alters agility
some heavy arts already have -x% initiative(just can't explain why for broadsword :P ) that's enough, we don't have more which give -x% initiative

Sorry mate, but this suggestion will bring tons of new balance need.

But, at this point I'd like to comment on the "realism" part :P
It's not actually the troops wearing the armors, it's the lord that wears it ! The troops ... well, imagine them like the lord's minions, affected by his leadership they gain bonuses from his equipment. Makes sense this way, as the troops have their own "realism" on THEIR equipment : look at my slow crab-armored guardians and look at those slutty-dressed bloody shrews !!
@3 Magic can care about speed you know, for enchanted gargs to run away, you need speed.

@4 Dark elves should not wear heavy armor then :p Go for attack armor...

@5 Its never too late to change.

@6 I am talking about speed... Initiative can be decreased too but my main point is speed.

@7 That's a good point ;) But then in the real wars, the leader fights, here the leader doesn't go on the battlefield except a shoot from far back... So naturally you need to affect the troops.
Wouldn't this make guardians/swordsmen slower ?
They move like grandmothers as it is.
-1 for several reasons.

Currently we have 9 arts a hero can equip at a time and the choice for best gear at specific levels are limited. This idea would be better perhaps if there was a lot of variety in gear.

If we overlook the limited options in artifacts, still according to this idea, the current builds would get affected to a great extent. To get higher speed you'd need to get cut down your defense (unless the idea is suggesting really insignificant reduction in speed which anyway doesn't seem to be worth all the rebalancing that would follow it).
Attack-normal speed/ Defense-lowered speed.. kinda too unilateral, I doubt defense builds currently have sufficient advantage for this change.

Some of us would also be against giving enchanters guild more influence than it already has.

Besides what is attack armor? Something new?

if this happens then i create a bow in ru forum :)

so you are talking about speed, sorry unless they removes speed and infinitive mini-art from wiz , also each magic arts must decrease hero initiative by -1=2% , i can't accept it.
it was clearly you want your garg fly like 9 speed and shrews follow him with 5-6 speed :P

Why?
Because this game is already quite unfair to people who cannot afford to spend money on online games or choose not to spend money on online games.
Putting the spec. diamond arts and stuff would reduce a huge amount of players from playing this game.
