I recently had the experience and think others too might have experienced this.
suppose u are in a battle and your net goes down, but after getting back into the battle [after settlement], u see that your army is randomly arranged which gives u a huge tactical disadvantage (suppose invokers kill 30% of your army with 1 shot) before u can even do something..

this becomes a big problem,suppose it happenes in a survilurg or tournament battle..

then my idea is, interface should prescribe the settlement most used by the user.

this way there wont be a disadvantage for the side in the beginning..

the random settlement should be the one which is most used by the

the hero could choose what settlement to be used when he/she goes AFK by mistake.
Wouldn't this lead to substantial abuse? Like because the battle is far too long (like mixed CG), players would just enlist and then chuck the laptop aside. IMO though it's with good intention, but the chances of abuse are far greater than it's end benefit..

it has far more negative effects than this thought IMO.
There is no such thing as auto-play from the start. What you're suggesting is something which initially requires no human control. Auto-control option only comes into effect where your opponent has 25% of the troops left and you have more than 50% (correct me if I'm wrong) , now I'm no expert in maths but it's pretty clear who's the winner already unless system did not take into account of nature raising dead ability and demon's gate.

It was made because when the battle is pretty much one sided, I do not have to keep on waiting and moving even though it's already a forgone conclusion. Certainly I'm sure you've met players who take about 20 sec to think per creature before moving.

Please do tell such negative effects, I only can think of 1, specifically in UN and RD faction where the system fails to take into account raising dead and gating ability but these 2 circumstances are so rare and can almost be discarded instantly.

Another "auto-play" you could be referring to are the 4x4 auto battles? That is only for special occasions like anniversary so I don't see what effect there is to regular battles.. Whereas if you're making reference to QT auto play, then that's a whole different discussion as the name states, it's QUICK tournament.
by auto play I meant the AI taking over when u don't respond for more than 5 moves aka going afk

and btw there is already a negative effect, i.e no skill points.
so why not this as well?

Pre settlement = Saves time = Saves Team when people go afk = Really good idea.

Ah that's what you meant by auto play. Sorry, I didn't get it the first time round. If I'm not mistaken, in 1v1 battles, your troops will just die off instantly (hence resulting in -2 luck) whereas if only in 2v2, 3v3, after 3 turns of going AFK, AI control kicks in.

I still don't see a negative aspect in that. The system also gives you the option to take control back in case you do return and if indeed, you do return and regain control, you will get a portion of the FSP. By all means this is not a bad idea, it's an idea with good intentions but what I'm saying is the potential of abuse if very big and very real. Many low level QT players (equipped with enchants) who with the aim of getting achievements are doing it already. They basically go on the allocated time which the QT starts, enlists there and leave.

Its a good idea. But both methods seem bad as they do not support the idea.

what the player uses most often may not be useful against a particular faction so how does that help? Against DE i would use different placement as compared to knight or wizard.

2nd method: Letting a hero choose what settlement should be used if he goes afk doesn't make sense either. Settlement is done at the beginning of combat and how would you choose a settlement if you are afk from the start and also do not know what you would be facing?

it would also be easy to implement.just use the last setup used in every battle from the start instead of just the initial plain settlement.it might save all of us a click

But I would guess your knight set up would be more useful against a de than the default one

they can just take the set up which computer would choose, when you click the "autosetup" button

i think this is the set up which you used in the previous battle
it even works when you changed recruits (i did not yet try with kicking out a small creature and taking in a new big creature)

you choose the type of setup for each opponent too :)

like vs mage, u can go full melee with troops ready for charging.
and
for vs might, where u have like rocs or shrews with the opponent, u can position them a little bit more precisely.. :)

the AI decides by looking at the stats and recruiting of the opponent heroes, especially if in a 3x3 match,it looks at the one right in front of u.

when u can have a calculator for damage, why not for this ;)

There would be a "my settlements button in the recruiting page for every faction!

u could choose the positioning depending upon the kind of troops in the opponent's army!

In addition to this, there is only one settlement saved from your previous and other are not your previous settlement in auto setup
It help newbie to see settlement of other but we cannot save more settlement is bad.
