Looks like at the very beginning of this game there have been an auction:

A thief ambushed me today wielding this.
Once enchanted with a durability of 10000, it really is nice to use it practicly infintely. And it got bought for only 106050, what a steal.
Did this auction thingy only happen once or are there more items like these? |

Yes it was the very first auction ever held... as far as I remember the Xaser guy just barely beat Noldor to it.
I don't think back then most people understood its value but as of now it is supposed to be the most expensive artifact in this game. |
