Does it function like thieves' guild? Increase/decrease as you win/lose? Or is the difficulty static? |
No, winning/losing does not change the difficulty of a watcher guild quest. |
I see, thank you. I have two more questions.
Is the the gold reward for each errand something like an indicator of the difficulty? The more gold it gives, the more difficult the errand tends to be?
And is there any errands which I should avoid due to it being super difficult? |

No

Depends on faction but generally smuggler and outlaws are most difficult |
It seems that the difficulty is quite random from game to game, sometimes you meet puny enemies with less troops than you have so you can just walk over them, and sometimes they're so big that you can either 1) die miserably 2) cowardly surrender and lose anyway.
Normally I go and say hi to all WG guys, and then win those who are winnable |
I normally avoid all Castle Missions... Tbh.
And the ones I make sure I always do are "Boss of ...".
Most fun Mission/Battle type in the whole game IMHO. |
for Ipsen:

Thats weird because I find it usually very easy to win for 3* as Unholy necro. Basically necro and Unholy necro are for me the best faction for WG as evrn in tough outlaws or 1vs2/3 I can get 3stars very easily due to UN raising ability. Necro culd haveproblems in dome WG hunts but even there I win almost every time |
Yeah unholy necro is awesome for WG.
I'm now playing as dwarf and find castles very easy... the castle dwellers always group into one corner and then invokers tear them to bits :) |
I find that some missions are very difficult but when it is I tend to get three stars even with a close victory, so I typically play all; I just switch beetween alt factions depending on the type of quest. |
Switching around a bit within your build is often wise and then most become easy - though some have more variance in difficulty which is inherent in how the battles are generated. Since they come from wins in previous events it depends when in the run of how they did that you get the battle. If it was the last battle in the run of victories then the dynamic balancing for the event getting them harder would be at the highest of winnable, consequently it will be hard, equally if it was from a battle which was the first win after a loss it will be a walk in the park. Some events lended themselves to more close battles than others. Pirates for instance you could influence the difficulty so many people chose to make it easier and coast than some other events. Consequently on average these battles will tend to be easier.
Castles should be easy since they changed the defence of the wall allowing it to one hit it and destroy it, whereas during the event you had to do much more damage.
Hunts on watchers guild should be hard more frequently since people could repeatedly try it until they got a set up that worked for the placement of troops - while you have the same ability it may mean your first fight you may have misplaced your troops for that set up.
What I find as a battlewise wiz is to mix up things. IF I know I am against elementals or something like that I will be pure might and have tactics so genies can hit the corner first time (Something that usually gives an edge as when the event was played they would not have known if this was going to be useful since they did not know which type of enemy they would face - in WG you do). IF it is a hero led army I will tend to go for a DoF set up. After a while you may have a couple of different starting set ups and placements that work well for a lot. If you are really struggling with a castle, perhaps try a defensive set up. Many people during that event found this the most effective solution, even though it was boring as (hence the change to make the doors be destroyed in one hit to make the battles more offensive and not last so long) |
Just to add to this and reaffirm an earlier pointDepends on faction
In the hunt quest those factions which have a number of players who love to hunt (elves and dark elves) are likely to have a higher top record and so are more likely to have a very hard hunt.
Other factions are likely to have an easier time of it as it is less likely some hunt enthusiasts have competed to make insane records. |
