The definition of fireproof talent says,
Commanded stacks take 50% less fire elemental damage. Besides they become immune to Dark elves` "Dominion of Fire" talent effect.
So, does that means "Dominion of Fire" by any other chaos caster, like demon or wizard will still work (reduce defense), only Dark evles` won't? |

everyone. Dark elves' is just an example. The description has poor wording. |
In HoMM lore, Dark Elves were the faction that created Dominion of Fire.
That description merely points to that; the immunity granted by Fireproof applies in face of any enemy with DoF. |

its very misleading regardless.
I also wanted to add that fire elemental troops such as firebirds, lava dragons, etc. that are supposedly immune to fire damage would also be immune to dominion of fire unless caster has magic pierce aka ignore magic resistance in which case dof works against them. Point is, your fire spells need to do damage greater than zero and it would work on everything.
But if you take fireproof talent, you get immunity to dof effect without any exception. |
DoF has nothing to do with magic pierce/resistance.
When a player with DoF casts a fire dmg spell, the dmg done does compute pierce and resistance. However, the direct effect of DoF is parallel to that, and it just decreases defense.
Fireproof adds magic resistance to dmg done by the spell - and other fire elemental dmg dealing sources - by +50%. Parallel to that, it negates the effect of DoF. |

DoF itself doesn't have to do with resistance but you will need pierce/ignore resistance to make the effect work on fire elementals because the effect does not apply with zero damage. That's all i am saying. What your second line says is true but it has nothing to do with my statement. |
Woot really? And all these years I thought it was a useless talent since it only works against DE's -_- |

based on talent description i would have thought the same. But i saw it at work in a pvp battle couple years ago :) |
