does weakness work on the elemental creature?
if yes, why didn't weakness work there?

It should work on dark gargoiles. Probably its a bug or not all creature abilities are listed. Might be 'Immunity to darkness/weakness' not listed.

one of the gargoyles was immune to weakness as I remember, although it's not said in the description

I think dark garg is immune to dark spells
